As much as I'm indifferent to pro-am teams and pay drivers/gentleman drivers, they do support the ACO and are essentially paying customers.

Again, I find it hard to argue with the ACO here, even if in this case the reasoning is one that I don't 100% agree with. Also, can't blame the ACO that everyone and their brother has aimed for 2023 to debut their LMH/LMDH programs, at least full time.

Factory teams and gentleman driver focused pro-am teams fill the ACO's pockets, Jim Glickenhaus isn't. And the ACO giving him the cold shoulder after this season, sadly, wasn't entirely unexpected given the influx of factory or factory supported teams over the next couple of years, even if we (and the ACO) have to wait a year for most of them.

FIA/ACO could kill this by saying the championship has X number of places, based on pit availability or whatever. If those places are filled with full season entries that have paid full season entry fees, then no wild card entries are possible. If the places are not filled then wild cards will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Wild cards are not eligible for championship points.

The more, the merrier, especially given that we're (or no one it seems) is 100% sure of Peugeot's status for 2022 now.

I haven't seen any confirmation they want to do the full season.
Questions like that remained unanswered on twitter.

I really hope this means full season, and not "we want in" and "we want only Sebring - Spa - Le Mans, and then we'll see"

Yes, but the word "Full" as in "Full Season" is never mentioned.

Just "We are pleased to announce that we will be joining The 2022 WEC season starting in Sebring"

I would have liked to see the word "Full" added to that since that would take away the doubt.

Looks like a compromise was reached for 1 full season car, but 2 cars at Le Mans.

I wish they designed the car to look less LMP'ish though and more like a GT road hypercar. The SCG 003 could have been the basis of it. But they did not go that direction.

You can't erase or forget 20+years of know-how and concepts. It's like how most modern service rifles are based on the AR-15, modernized AK-47s or AR-18s, and for the latter, though most of those rifles are proprietary (FN SCAR, HK433, CZ Bren 2, etc), the concept is the same, because those designers know what works and what doesn't.

Same with race cars. Unless the regs expressly forbid it, you're not going to ignore what worked in the past. Most of the cars that did (first gen Audi R15, Nissan GTR LMP1, Aston Martin AMR-One) usually paid for it.

Why do I have to keep reminding that the rules were expressly written in a way to make sure that those aero concepts, which make cars unattractive, only bring the aero efficiency outside the stipulated performance window? At least that's what we were told. Peugeot certainly managed to "forget" the 908 while designing the 9X8.

Just heard GG mention in the podcast the Glickenhaus plans to add brake by wire to SCG 007.

We've all heard about the downsides and challenges that brake by wire posed in the development of hybrid race and road cars. What benefits would a system like that have in a car without energy recovery?

Weight reduction?
If done right reliability in the way that there is no liquids needed, in case of an accident.
However I am not a car engineer, so this is only speculative.
