19 Tracks

Next year there maybe 19 tracks in the season
with the return Of SPA and the 2 new tracks China and Bahrain
Should make for an intresting season with a Possibe 190 points up for graps.

I am pretty sure that the one thing that is certain for next year is that the teams don't want more than 16/17 races. So if we have new circuits (or some others come back) then others on this year's calendar will have to go.

Totally agree Adam - I think 17 is the maximum with Silverstone firmly on the hit list at the mo. Isn't there already a problem with Bahrain - they now can't get the money ?

I was sure I read Bahrain was'nt going to happen due to lack of government support (and various fundamental differences).

Don't forget Austria's been canned too, I thought that Bahrain was sorted after government approval was granted?

Austria's gone, and either Silverstone, Imola or Nurburgring will be toast too.

Austria and Imola are gone.

Sad to see Austria go, but good riddance to Imola.

In the Concorde Agreement, it was said that 17 races per season was the maximum. But maybe they could come with an agreement with the teams

Agree! Austria was a good circuit actually, and had great passing opportunities.

Imola? Well, it never was the same after the changes was it, so I'm not too sorry to see it go if the original layout can't be kept.

Has Imola definitely been axed then?

IMO F1 should never have gone back there after 1994, never.

I agree that Imola will be no great loss to F1; a once-great track that was producing reliably boring races (did anyone watch the F3000 there last year? Yawn!). The A-1 Ring is more of a blow, as it did provide interesting races and was oh-so-pretty. But, for all Bernie's talking it up, I'm not sure Spa will make it back on to the calendar. You've got:

Albert Park
Interlagos
Sepang
Shanghai
Catalunya
Monaco
Nurburgring
Montreal
Magny-Cours
Hockenheimring
Hungaroring
Monza
Indianapolis
Suzuka

for sure, then Silverstone, Bahrain, Buenos Aires, Spa and (potentially) Turkey clamouring to get in. Something has to give, and the teams seem (strangely) adamant that 17 races is the absolute max.

17 is certainly the max, but Bernie is permanently trying to force them to accept more. For next year it will not change, I am sure of that.

Last I knew Bahrain had fallen apart, since the somewhat fundamental problems eventually occured. It would be good if this has changed and I am unaware of it.

Imola going is no tragedy, thanks to the massacre they placed upon it.

Austria was not a desperately interesting track, but its design worked well. It produced the situations most likely to aid over-taking.

SPA possibly returning! Wahooo!!!!!! Yeehaadui!!

They might as well get rid of Höckenheim too as it's been thoroughly butchered and serves no further purpose.

And Monaco, Hungoraring (replacing it with Brno) and Indianapolis (replaced by either Road America or Long Beach)

Austria has already been dealt with, Monaco should go too but that's highly unlikely because the royal brat's and their slow-slow circuit means big bucks for the teams.

Albert Park: Good track, pretty good racing, should stay
Interlagos: Always a spectacle and the only place ive ever heard the fans cheering drowning out the sound of the cars!
Sepang: Hmmm, its alright I guess, better when it rains!
Shanghai: Lets see
Catalunya: Dull, dull, dull! Ditch it!
Monaco: A classic that HAS to stay, hugely challenging, f1 must NEVER leave!
Nurburgring: Cack rehash of a fantastic circuit, not worthy of the name. Ditch
Montreal: Good circuit in a nice setting, good racing usually, though the end this year was a little follow my leader
Magny-Cours: Oh god no, this is awful!
Hockenheimring: *cries* Another botched remake, should be destroyed!
Hungaroring: See catalunya, dull, should go
Monza: Another which has to stay, though will someone please sort out those chicanes! And return the lesmos to their former glory! Other than that fine! Its different!
Indianapolis: hmmm nice idea, needs some work
Suzuka: Brilliant challenging circuit that we need to keep,
one of the good old school F1 tracks.

Of those in doubt:

Spa: Brilliant track that is what f1 should be about, how they could have ditched it is beyond me
Bahrain: Again wait and see.....but it is a Tilke track *shudders*
Silverstone: produces goos racing and has a sense of tradition

Those gone:

Imola: F1 shouldnt have returned after 94, used to be a fantastic challenging track, now its quite frankly a piece of
Austria: Nice circuit that sometimes produced some good racing, but lets face it, it aint no Ostereichring.

BTW just noticed a typo in my previous post.

Unfortunately Silverstone doesn't hold goose racing.... yet, although things may change should the GP be dropped.

The geese await the outcome with excitement!

The "edit post Button" is your friend!

Bernie said he was behind Spa coming back, and when the most powerful man in the sport is behind you, miricales can happen! (Max has been unusually quiet on the subject though!)

In fact, I think they should have 2 races at Spa next year, to make up for the one we missed this year!

Hungaroring....why is this glorified Go-Kart track in F1....oh right, yeah....$$$'s
The changes made to it this year won't help, you mark my words!

those that should go in my opinion are, imola, catalunya, hungary, mangy-cours, and of course monaco.

there is no way silverstone should go, this years race was awesome, the best race in a very long time so i cannot be axed.

Agreed there, quite possibly the hardest challenge in F1, if you need more convincing of how specal that place is watch Sennas onboard qualifying lap from 88....mesmerising and perfection at its best!
