Great to see Schubert providing technical support to the car.

I hope 40 at Monza, but could be just below. Some teams have not yet confirmed their line-up and time is running out...

Interesting to see how much the field has changed compared to last season. Only one Audi and two Porsches, but loads of Mercedeses and Astons.

Things have petered out because of the safety cars (3 in 30 minutes, all necessary) but it's been a great race under green.

Now for the final 5 minutes to the flag...

I confess to being somewhat underwhelmed by GT4. The cars don't look or sound particularly interesting. It also feels like a confused mash-up of sub-GT3 supercars (AMG, R8, Vantage), small sportscars (570, Alpine, 718) and touring cars (the BMW).

Personally I'd like it to be a series for the smaller, lighter sports cars. It's just too much of a suspension of disbelief to pretend that an AMG, an Alpine and an M4 are all equal! I know this is also true of, for example, a Bentley GT3 vs a Lambo GT3, but GT4 seems to take this to an extreme.

Still, some pretty cars at a pretty circuit on a (mostly) nice day. Enjoy!

The AMG, Mclaren, R8, and the Aston are a bit of a stretch in terms of suspension of disbelief, but I find the racing excellent. The European GT4 series perhaps not as much as the IMSA series, which adds Mustangs and a Camaro for extra spice. It is clear the bracket creep is in full force though, sadly, as GT3 does its inevitable spiral into cost insanity and inevitable class death as GT1, GT2 and everything before it.

It would be really nice if sanctioning bodies could actually enforce their own tech rules and not allow this life-cycle to keep ruining things, but it seems that one of the core characteristics of sports car racing is that between the money and the egos, sustainability is never possible over the long term.

The GT4 South European Series street race at Vila Real was cancelled for lack of entries.
