GT Open & GT Cup 2019

GT Open are back with what looks like another strong year, with big grids and plenty of diversity.

2019 also sees the introduction of the GT Open Cup series which runs in support of the main series.

Calendar:

FRANCE Paul Ricard 27-28.04.2019

GERMANY Hockenheim 25-26.05.2019

BELGIUM Spa 08-09.06.2019

HUNGARY Hungaroring 06-07.07.2019

ENGLAND Silverstone 07-08.09.2019

SPAIN Barcelona 21-22.09.2019

ITALY Monza 12-13.10.2019

Only a handful of teams announced so far but this is usually the case with GT Open, already a stronger off season than last year.

Big news so far is Teo Martin moving back to Mclaren, and Antonelli moving to AMG.

We are also due to see a pair of new Vantages.

PRO CLASS - 5 Cars

Antonelli Motorsport - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBA / TBA
Teo Martin Motorsport - Mclaren 720s GT3 - TBA / TBA

Cup cars like the Lamborghini ST, Porsche Cup cars; GT4 cars; and I believe outdated spec GT3... but not sure on that last one

No mention of old GT3.

I guess if you ask them nicely, they will find a Bop for any GT car you take there.

I've read a press release from GetSpeed which said 4!! Mercedes AMG GT3 cars to run in GT Open That will mean we have already 8 AMG's.

4!

That means even with some of the regular multi car teams undeclared we are already in the 18-20 range...

Should be a good grid!

Juntos is a back marker

this is a good second league for GT3. Those who can't succeed in Blancpain, this is a good solution.

MaskedRacer User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
GT Open has been ok the past couple years. I still miss it being a series where teams can run both GTE and GT3. That was when it was at its best. Wish they would allow GTE cars again. It would bring meaning to the name "open" again. Now its just a secondary GT3 championship. Still credit is deserved for the youtube coverage which is good. I especially like the "international" feed where you hear just the engines and no commentary. Would be cool if others did that.

Still if the series can get 20-25 cars between 7-9 manufactures then it would be good. In 2018, you had the grid numbers but not much manufacturer diversity. Too many Lambos and Ferraris.

Teo Martins lineups are slowly forming up

Andres Saravia and Henrique Chaves both confirmed, not necessarily together in a car though.

Looks like Fran Rueda will be back too

So far it looks like the GT Open will have a stronger GT3 sprint field than the Blancpain Sprint (World Challenge Europe)
