Hi!

Really interesting to read. Thank you for the pictures!

I remember seeing that, now black, menu car for sale in Denmark a while ago.

I dug up some more info about the cars. Talked to a Swede called Mr Sällfors and he told me he bought David Pinkney's car around 93-94. He also bought the four door "replacement" Matt Neal car and sold it to "Peggen Andersson".
The original two door "matt neal" chassi ended up in Sweden as well as a spare for the Pinkney car. That chassie is now owned by a firm called "mobimech" in Sweden. It has been fully repaired and were competing in various Swedish series in the beginning of the 2000's.

Now that's two of the VLN car's. The third one which, yes, ended up in Sweden as well, were bought from a scottsman namned Hamish by Mr Lennart Köhler. A highly recomended BMW tuner in Sweden. This particular car were then bought by Georg Bakajev who competed the car in the Swedish touring car championship (stcc).

From here two of the car's went abroad, as stated before.

So that's the Swedish part of the story.

By the way, couldn't you make some copies of that reinforcement brace. I would by one for sure!

Kind regards
Daniel

I think Peggen Andersson used the ex-Matt Neal 4-door at the Touring Car World Cup at Donington in 1994?

'Hamish' would be Hamish Irvine, who used the Coupe in the 1994 BTCC

chassis number information

Hi there,
My name is Ton Vink, we own one of the BTCC E36 318is cars. The car is still in a nice and original condition. We are not sure who drove this car in period. Is there anyone who can tell more about the chassisnumbers and their drivers?

Thanks for the help.
Ton

Regarding the E36 BTCC cars this might help....

Chassis # 3 was sold to Vic Lee in December `91
Chassis # 5 was sold to Prodrive in December `91
Chassis # 8 was sold to Vic Lee in January `92
Chassis # 15 was sold to Prodrive in February `92
Chassis # 17 was sold to Vic Lee in February `92
