marshals track days
Have I missed a thread? Can't find any mention of track days for the marshals this end of season. Are there going to be any track days this time?

I was just about to ask the same thing as I had an email from MSV today about "normal" track days, which reminded me about the marshal ones.
Any news? |

Not sure about any at the end of season, MSV did some at the start of this year (Feb 1st at Oulton), I am sure a thread was started on here with all the links to the MSV site to book it.....so watch this space!

All four track days took part during January and February of this year. As soon as I have confirmation of whether they will be on offer again next year I will post it here and in all the BMMC regional magazines.

Thanks Stephen. I did the track day at Oulton and had superb fun. I'd just wondered if the offer would happen again between the 08 and 09 seasons. Its a shame the days were so close together last time and that marshals werent allowed to drive on more than one day. There werent any cars doing hot laps at oulton park either, the whole thing seems to have become much more low key. Its still a tremendous day out though for those who are normally the other side of the barriers. My thanks to MSV and Jonathan Palmer for supporting all the marshals and allowing us to have some fun in the "off season".

I'd like to add my thanks to MSV & JP. I went to Brands & although we had a delayed start because of fog, it was an excellent day. A chance to put the car through it's paces & also an opportunity to see the track from the drivers point of view. Fun with learning, what could be better?
I'll certainly go next year given the opportunity. |

Ah, but this is a track day NOT a race day Mike! Can go slower and preserve the car a bit more!

I hope to be able to give you some news on this soon. Like this year I doubt there will be the opportunity for hot laps but we will have to wait and see. As soon as I have any news I will post it here and in all the regional BMMC newsletters/BARC etc etc

Some great news. Jonathan Palmer and MSV have again agreed to support marshals by offering free track days in 2009. Special thanks go to David Scott for his efforts in getting the days agreed.
As soon as the dates have been finalised I will let you all know. |

Thank you once again Stephen, and especially to all at MSV. While it's not an activity I'm going to take up (can't afford to risk the car) I do appreciate what is a very special offer.

Borrow a car from who?
MSV will not have cars available; the idea is you bring your own car and experience what it is like to drive some of the best racing circuits in the world. |

That's great news!
I won't be thrashing mine around as it's my only transport and can't afford to bin it, but would certainly enjoy driving it 'spiritedly' around Oulton Thanks Stephen, MSV et al in advance.. |

Although I can't be at these events, I'd recommend any marshal to have a go. Perfect chance to see what the drivers see, and experience how difficult it really is...
Hope those that attend have a great day and well done MSV. |

I could borrow 4-10's stock hatch racer I suppose, although I'd have to let Paul drive a bit too [considering it's his car] and he hasn't marshalled for ages! |
