Force India have been impressive. Hamilton looks like he had this one under control before Rosberg's array of problems.

Will Stevens seems to have acquitted himself okay.

Rosberg will be caught by Will Stevens at this rate.
Sad to see. |

It's a real pity for Rosberg that he wasn't able to get back into the battle for the win, as it would have been good to at least see that, even if it hadn't affected his championship result.

for some reason the circuit doesn't look as aesthetically impressive on tv as it has done in the past. do they need to up the contrast a bit or something?!

Rosberg's effective retirement gives a more representative championship table I suppose. Equal on retirements as well.

As the late James Hunt often said. ''It's all over bar the shouting.''

Well done Hamilton. He deserved it and the double points stuff didn't come into play which is good too.

Not the classic finale and I feel that's justice for this stupid double points. Hopefully we will never see it again

I think it's already been confirmed that we won't be having double points again. Terrible idea, and it's good that it didn't ruin proceedings this year.

So Hamilton started the race with a 17 point lead and finished with a 67 point lead.... Great idea Bernie. It really made the event and the result exciting..... And if you had got your way and the last three races had double points? After Austin: Nico 310, Lewis 341 difference 31 After Brazil: Nico 360, Lewis 377 difference 17 (same as it was!) After Abu Dhabi: Nico 360, Lewis 427 difference 67 (same! - so three races of double points would have changed nothing between the two of them....) Brilliant idea Bernie... Such wisdom........ would have changed nothing. It was a terrible idea... Last edited by Teretonga; 23 Nov 2014 at 15:57. |

2014 now in the books. Just an avg F1 season.
I give it an overall 7 on the entertainment scale. Hamiltons jump from Maclaren to Merecedes has paid off and he looks brilliant. Looking forward to see what the drivers silly season will do for the teams. I am still concerned for Ferrari next year. They still seem behind the techno eightball. |

Afaic the sole purpose of double points was so that Abu Dhabi would be the season decider, rather than just the season finale, with the WDC and Constructor's Championship already decided. I'm glad to see the double points made no difference.

Well it kept some interest but in the end made no difference, so may be the last time double points are used.
Congratulations to Lewis on win and on championship |

Hope it would be the first and last time with a double-points race. Point scorings since 2010 thwarted all possibilities to compare with champions in the past, in terms of points.
Well done Lews for the champ, well done Williams for the 2-3 and well done Caterham for your showing and finishing the race with debutant Stevens. |

The overall idea of forcing that every finale be a decider won't go away I think. They may very well try and return with some gimmick to ensure this. TV numbers has become god for these types.

That apart, that circuit will never be aesthetically pleasing to me. Painting lots of blue stripes doesn't compensate for all thoe acres of stupid tarmac. |

Comparing points and number of win statistics between era's is even more difficult simply because of the increased number of races. That alone distorts the number of win and points comparisons to the point where you really have to look at the number of wins, the number of races participated in and even factor in the number of years in the sport... |
