Mr Pink should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm not so shure that Tracy is what the series needs drivers wise either (not that he would be a bad addition).
I think best would be if they got a couple of young drivers who can grow with the "new" IRL, drivers who people immedietly will associate with it.

Not even sure this guy has the goods to be a car filler. I have some seat time in a Star Mazda so I reckon that qualifies me to be a car filler as well, might as well see where the line is forming....

Can't believe Manning is out at Foyt. Just got done reading the article in Racer where all was Sweetness and Light...

Vitor Meira is replacing Manning, so IMO, Foyt got a driver upgrade...that isn't a shot at Manning, because I think he is good, but Meira can drive and he is a hard charger...just the kind of guy that Foyt likes in the cockpit.

Exactly Tim - I think things just came to a natural end for Manning. Darren's quote implied as much to me talking about his plan was to improve the team which has undoubtedly occurred seeing them running consistently on the lead lap at most ovals in the second half of the season. Depending on what he ends up doing I would not be at all suprised to see him running the 500 for Tex in future.

Then again running DP, ALMS or something similar would suit him much better.

Next year really is a make or break year for Meira - if he doesn't lift the team noticably then he's going to be a highly skilled career journeyman. Much like Manning really.....

I agree with statement. You may see AJ Foyt Enterprises on some podiums next year.

2008 season:
Meira (Panther) P13 324 points
Manning (Foyt) P14 323 points

Driver upgrade? I'd expect a Panther driver to be a bit further ahead of a Foyt machine over the whole season.

Meira has just had some really poor luck this year, along with some really great drives at times.

I have to agree. People seem to have forgotten that when Manning was at Ganassi, until he was fired by Chip, Manning was well ahead of a certain Scott Dixon in the points standings with equal equipment. I do believe than Manning has been a bit of an overlooked talent & IMO Meira will struggle to do as well next year. I'd like to be proved wrong but I just have a feeling that Manning may have been outperforming his equipment.

Manning is a talent. He won the Indy 500, after all. And that wasn't a long time ago, either.

I was hoping Schekter would get another run. He was well quick this year.

Awesome for Matos he really deserves a ride. All you needed to see was his awesome recovery at Kentucky this year to prove that. Too bad it had to be Schekter he bumped out, but that what happens when too many good drivers compete for too few seats.

Yep, it was a good pick-up for Luczo. Now I wonder what will happen to Scheckter.

Scheckter is rapidly becoming my candidate for the next "what if this guy got a good ride" driver of the decade. He seems to have the tools - never gets the opportunity.

Scheckter's very good, but I think Matos is a more useful addition to the field. He's got the job done in both Atlantics and IndyLights, and richly deserves his chance.

Maybe Conquest can pick up Scheckter and lose Camara. I think he would probably do better.

Alwaysfirst should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The latest rumours seem to be that Marty Roth has folded his team, keeping only 3 members of staff on. I'm not sure how much truth is in this yet...but if it is the case then I can't say I'm surprised. It seems to be the case that if Marty can't drive for his own team then nobody will. I can't say I blame him but I do feel for John Andretti & Jay Howard, both of whom deserve a much better chance.

At least the Matos news is good news. If he's not ready now then he will never be. 4 championships in the last 6 years including both of the feeder series isn't bad going & of the drivers not currently in the ICS he's surely got to be one of the most qualified for the ride. I look forward to seeing him do well...
