PSI Motorsport - a Finn Markus Palttala drives for them, too, but on BelCar series. He drove the last years final FFSA race in Magny Cours with Romain Bera and won there. His comments of French GT series were very positive afterwards.

If you look the first photo it seems a Viper cup.

E46, we do have no less than 9 Viper in the championship, but is not at all a Viper cup cos we get one Corvette, i Porsche 996 Biturbo, 2 550 Maranello including the larbre one, plus a Saleen S7 and a Pagani Zonda.

This championship is an huge succes.

Does French GT try to equalize the cars? One would think a Prodrive 550 in the hands of a team like Larbre would mop the floor with older Vipers. Not that the PSI Porsches are bad cars or anything.

Clearly SRO and the ffsa want to equalize the cars cos if they do not, we would not have such a great series.

But do not forget that Larbre has lost titles during the previous seasons with viper against team who also had viper.

Why are there so many Vipers in this series and why are they doing so well compared with the cars in the FIA-GT where the ferraris are dominating the series. I am quite surprised at this. What are the weight requirements and the size of the restrictors for the different cars and the different size engines and amount of valves per cylinder

Thanks

Just to mention how impressive are those FFSA-GT races : 48 cars at the start, and the winner took over the second overall in the middle of the last lap ! Battles everywhere...

A tip to balanced the teams : you've got a time penality if you've two professionnal drivers in the car... it works !

hi transeuropexpre, do you know much about the 996 bi-turbo? there is a team in australia who races a 996 turbo with 600 horsepower. it's a 996 GT3RSR with a modified turbo engine.

do any of the teams participate in any international 24hour races?

Iconic, you'll have more on the PSI Motorsport site about most of the PSI Porsches...

For the Tarres Porsche, it's a improved and transformed street legal 996 Turbo, according to its owner, Frédéric Hauchard, on Jérôme Mugnier's Virage. He bought it to an amateur, in Alsace (Strasbourg area).

The SRT Corvette also race last weekend, drivers were Marc Goossens and Lebon. They had a lot of electric problems. DNF in the first race and 7th in the second. SRT raced this race because Lebon invited (paid) them.

I was there on saturday, just after the rain.
Always a pleasure to see those cars and drivers struglling on those hilly 3800 meters (40+ cars made traffic the key of the event)

Rain was there on sunday (so i stayed at home...).
The engine in some PSI Porsches, notably the one that lead the first part of the race saturday, could fit a good 962, if you ask me. Romain Bera was very fast at the start.
This is the 1st lap at the cuvette (a place which has not changed since the Villeneuve-Arnoux battle)

Chofar knows much more about the french serie than me, but I think that the Vipers are much more prepared for now, by better teams... new cars need more time...

The pilots count too !
