George to Mercedes. Most anticipated move for 2022, but we are just waiting on confirmation. I like the idea of Albon back in F1. I am going to miss Kimi. We will be talking about him for years to come. But everyone's day as an F1 driver eventually comes to an end.

Hopefully it's announced before the end and he can get that last lap acknowledgement. And knowing him try to drive the car straight home

It would be great to see De Vries in F1, loads of talent and would be sportscars loss....

I would love to De Vries in F1 too, a talent that’s been shown in enough in other formulas

It's now official: Kimi retiring at the end of this season.
Can we keep him in the DOTR vote though? |

With Kimi announcing his retirement. I expect dominoes to fall quickly. I think this will settle Kimi's seat (Bottas), Bottas' seat (Russell) and Russell's seat (?). Additional speculation by many that Giovinazzi will also exit F1.

Especially if Sauber go Mercedes as rumoured, and Williams go Renault as suggested earlier in the year.

Bit of a sad day Kimi is leaving, but it is no doubt the right time. He's the same age as Rossi, who's also retiring from MotoGP at the end of the year. Even if Kimi still has something left in him, he's never going to reach his previous heights of even his second Ferrari career. But we'll miss him all the same, great character

Sauber might want Mercedes power units, but I doubt Alfa Romeo would consider it acceptable for obvious reasons -- Alfa Romeo and Mercedes are direct competitors.
At least in theory, even if sadly in the real world buyers (on average) seem to prefer leasing three-pointed-badged cars to serpent-badged ones, much to the dismay of those who had drawn up the business case for the Giulia and Stelvio only for sales to fall well short of expectations. |

Grey area I admit but Gasly won at Monza 2020 in an AlphaTauri (my understanding is Red Bull specifically was the Honda engine works team)

Yeah, but they don’t pay for them, they come out of the same truck, share the same personnel and go in the same Red Bull Technologies designed structure. But a slight grey area nonetheless.

I guess it depends if they are a works team. Like Benetton were the official Ford works team in the late 80s and early 90s.
