Some sources say that the 2020 Stock Car season will star this weekend at Cascavel.


However, the main website shows a July 19th race at Santa Cruz do Sul, and the Twitter feed doesn't show much.

I hope there back this weekend, maybe reading too much into it but On there official Instagram page today they reckon the team running Mat?*as Rossi car are trying to fly him in for this weekend straight from Argentina to Cascavel circuit but there is some doubt as there’s fly restrictions between Brazil and Argentina

The new cars are no longer one-design silhouettes, are they? My skills at reading Portoguese are severely limited, but from my understanding the new cars are similar to the first generation MARC cars in that they are based on a tubular chassis that has been draped in an actual roadcar shell. Engines appear to be different as well, with Toyota using a 6.8l NASCAR Truck engine, while the Chevies are powered by the more familiär 6.2 V8.

It will be interesting to see if one of the brands will have a significant advantage over the other or if the performance of the two cars is pretty much balanced.

If I understand well, some bits of the serial bodyshell (side panels with all the pillars and a roof and some other metal) are welded to a standard tube without any scaling of original proportions which is good. Suspension is spec. As for engines, I'm not sure that Toyota uses own engine. Would be glad to be wrong.

It is the same tube-frame from JL G-09 welded inside a production based body shell. Some parts like doors and hood are still made of fiber. The lights also comes from the road car. Windshield is now actual glass.


For those who missed, someone has uploaded Goiania races 1 and 2 on YT already.


EDIT: Hood/Bonnet. Not "roof".

I've checked through brazilian autosport sites and they confirm that engines are different: Toyota uses a NASCAR Truck block, while Cruze have one from Camaro. That's a huge and positive step for the championship in modern circumstances when monopolisation destroying the sport (all that nonsense about "cost saving", you know). Definitely, I'll watch this if I found any possibility.

Are there any articles to read about "tuning" these cars at different tracks? Something like Japanese have with their Autosport. Or do these cars race "out of box" with absolute minimum of changes? Well, maybe even tyre pressure and riding height are not standardised and it's interesting how drivers tune their machinery at different tracks.

It's a common attitude, unfortunately. AutoSprint and AutoHebdo used to have lots of interesting tech details about different types of racing cars. It was 30 years ago. Today they write only about drivers. As if these drivers run without cars at all.

I've watched races at Goiânia, that take place few weeks ago. Khodair's break through the peloton during Saturday's second race made me grieve, because it was made by fan push (push-to-pass button), but whatever… I've read, there are kind of "Joker" at debute season for manufacturer in case of 30-point gap at standings. During first rounds Toyota was faster then Chevrolet and made gap. Chevrolet's drivers were unhappy with this: Toyota cars were a bit faster on straights then Chevrolet (about 2 or 3 km/h). The difference was amplified by the predominance of fast track such as Interlagos and Goiânia. As I know, Chevrolet teams or Giafone upgraded their cars (aeropackage, clearance and something else). Unfortunately, I can't find this source right now.
