320`s

Hi Don,
To try & clear this up.
E21-R1-22 with with BMW during `77. Was sold to BMW Sweded for `78 WEC. Then I think it went to Jerns Winther & was sponsored by Castrol. Eventually this car went to Finland and John ++++++ ? Sorry can`t remember his name. But the car was sold by a bank. It came to England and I am now restoring it.

Then there was the ex DRM car of Gustav Fischer, Christer Simonsen had this car and eventually it went to John Westman. Then to England where it still is.

There was a Schnitzer turbo car that was with Kari Michela, which also came to England. But now in France.

I heard there was one more ex Urpiala BMW still in Finland ?

Alex

Mäkelä Auto Tuning (MAT) video

This might interest some of you..

http://www.mat.fi/n_index.php?nav=ga...4v&back=videos

Star of the video is Sauber BMW M1 that is nowadays situated in Sauber's museum, but you also get a glimpse of Wiik's 320 and Spa winning 635.

Great info

Picking up an old thread. I've been looking for info on the famous gr 5 cars and this really helps, thanks!
Was into building a replica but probably never will get the time or money. Seems hard to find a kit anyway.
But a 3d model maybe? I do modeling for work. Anyone know about any mesurement drawings. Have found drawings but with no dimensions.
Again, thanks for this great thread!

Ian.
Ian Awesome insight. My race car has a personal connection to this chassis and I still have some parts from it. When Reinhold moved to Calgary with the car and spares, many of the cast off spares ended up on my car as they had become surplused in DRM. This included 2 External Dry sump pumps (both identical, one cast with Alpina in the centre body and the other having the cast lettering ground down and replaced with a stamping of "320i" also some very trick adjustable subframe and semi trailing arms.

It was featured recently in a BMW magazine.

First visit in a while, & a car of interest from that time

June 23, 2014
This BMW 320i group 5 German touring car is being fully restored here at MPC. Today it left for the paint shop where it will be returned to its glory days livery. This car was driven by ex F1 driver the late Ronnie Peterson in 1975. Stay tuned for more progress pics as we get it closer to returning to the track.20140110_161857 20140623_101520

Has been finished since but I cant find a link.
Not related to the Ian Grey car I referred to earlier.

I cant get enough of these cars, particularly the time downunder.

Here is a link to a photo of the Busby car car in Craven Mild livery
http://www.speedhunters.com/2018/12/...esentation-410

& in JPS black
2018-SH_Jim-Busby-Racing-BMW-320-Turbo_Trevor-Ryan-063_
2018-SH_Jim-Busby-Racing-BMW-320-Turbo_Trevor-Ryan-064_

The article includes its time in Aus.
.... the now extensively modified car was sold to Frank Gardner in Australia. Frank mentioned in a phone call with Cory (the current owner) that the Busby 320 Turbo was the only car he ever acquired that had been built by another team that he didn’t make any changes to.
