All of the hardwork by the runners in 3rd - 8th, gap had closed down to just 1:08 , down from 1:27 at the last safety car.

Gap will blow back out to 1:30.

3rd place in GTE had closed to 1:08.00 of leader (down from 1:27.00 after the last safety car). They will lose about 23 seconds again due to safety car timing.

Only hope is that the 92 and the 51 need to pit durinng a safetycar. But I'm sure the 92 and the 51 would go fred flintstone style, before they pit under a safety car...

Maybe the Bratislava car being out will calm down the full course yellow/safety cars, but I doubt it

ok, they've been of a lot, but this is the only SC they've caused.

I'm not saying they're the only ones causing them. But they've been in numerous incidents and the cause of local yellows/slow zones at the least. Nothing against them but it seems they're just not doing so well. Wish the best for them but this race is obviously not theirs

Indianapolis is the a rare corner at Le Mans with a small run off. Any idea why it hasn't been extended?

If you are a GTE car running 3rd-8th in class, what kind of strategy do you play at this point?

You could try to save a ton a fuel, to save a pit stop (which is worth about the same amount of time as the safety car gap). But if you go too slow saving fuel, you risk getting put 2 safety cars behind the leader which would give an over 2 minute gap.

What strategy is there left except hope the leaders break down?

Inside or outside? I'm not sure about the outside of the corner, but the inside on the way in got extended after 2000. I remember Mario Andretti's off there during the race there in 2000.

possibly because the property behind the run-off is privately owned? not saying it is, but it seems the most plausible explanation to me

I remember that one of those corners had problems with private properties near them. I just don't know if it was Indy or Arnage.

I wondered if it was some sort of geography type reason. Seems like just trees.
They need an access roads behind there, but a few more metres would probably be a good thing.

There must be a reason, just curious what it may be.

Let's ban Aston Martin first then. All of them have been in incidents and/or caused yellows or safety cars.

Looks like it might be private property based on what I just looked up on Google Maps.

Oops, Marcel82 beat me to it.

So a mistake and you are out forever. I would be interested who would have lost out on wins if this was the case.

Also wondering, does this apply to forums. I'd have been banned about 12 years ago.
