Hawke DL2B

Hawke ff cars were built by David Lazenby, i am looking for in particular the DL2B Model information.

How many were built,? i will include all DL2 cars not just the 2B which is the main interest, how many survive and what portion are still raced?.

I know that Andy Rouse drove one very succesfully in the early 70's as i remember seeing him drive at Mallory when i first started going to race meetings, and am i correct that Derek Lawrence did before moving to Titan?.

Mac McInstry became involved later on and if i recall Sid Fox was a regular Hawke driver.

A friend of mine, Tony Jupitus who owns a DL2A has done quite a lot of research into the Hawke marque and has even produced a book detailing Hawkes history, covering all of the cars including the still born F1 project of 76/77. If you send me a pm I will forward you his contact details.

As far as I am aware there are only 3 that are still raced in the UK, all within the HSCC series. Tony's that I have raced over the last 2 years, a DL2B which is owned by Roy McGregor, and another 2A which has been raced by Dean Bower. I am aware of another 2A being rebuilt.

I hope this is of help and if you are at Donnington this Sunday, Roy is entered in his.

I am also there but am entered in my F3 GRD. If you do make it come for a chat.

Hawke DL2B

Gary Magwood was the Cdn. distributor. You can find a contact e mail address for him with any seach engine. He probably has no records.
There are currently two Hawkes listed for sale on the VARAC site, varac.ca

According to the site given by Leighton the two cars for sale were.

RFDL6914 1969 DL2, Note Chassis no not listed on the Hawke registry site.

AM40 1970 DL2A For sale by Andrew Martin

Both have pictures availible. one showing the engine bay and rear end.

The Hawke registry has AM40 as belonging to another name is this the buyer ?

Thanks for the heads up Lieghton.

And thanks to John for the info on John Stammers 218 DL2B also not listed on the registry site.

Reference my original post , memory plays tricks when you are older , Andy Rouse of course drove a Dulon LD9, and Syd with a Y Fox a later Hawke DL9 ETC.

Matthew i am unable to be at Donnington but hope to catch up with you at other HSCC EVENTS later in the year, as i am going to the Silverstone event and Autosport 3 hoursat Snett.

Did we sprint several years back ?, and youre name is familar from 750 Motor Club events.

Pete,
Yes,the same Tom Belso.I spoke to him about 5 years ago.As the cars returning from Brazil were delayed on the boat Tom bought another DL2A in March 1970 to use in the UK/European FF.Championship.This car was sold into Denmark for 1971 and used for a couple of years before being crashed.

There are a lot of missing DL2B 's if we can only account for 3 in uk and 3? in Canada, even given that some were written off and not rebuilt.

The reason i opened this thread is that some years ago my brother an i bought an F4 car from a fellow 750 motor club racer. it was a rolling chassis no engine or box.
The engine mounting and general shape made me think it was a Hawke FF.
Unfortunately it was sold on and not run.

So to help identify the car from memory will be difficult.

Did Hawkes use any Brabham rear uprights?
Was he radiator in the nose.?
The car had black body work a shovel type nose with 2 wing 's .
A high mounted rear aluminium wing as per F4 regulations.
This was mid to late 80's.
