Dan Clarke - My Arse!

From www.danielracing.com

Comtec's Dan Clarke recently met up with motor-racing fan and newly-crowned Rear of The Year 2003 Natasha Hamilton, of Atomic Kitten.

Clarke, who hopes to get back to winning ways at Brands Hatch, quipped: "I may not have the greatest rear but it's the only bit of me the other drivers will see this year!"

Rounds 3 and 4 of the UK Formula Ford Championship will be taking place at the Brands Hatch International Circuit in Kent from the 4-5th May. Also competing at this event will be British Touring Cars and the American CART series.

You what?

"I may not have the greatest rear but it's the only bit of me the other drivers will see this year!" - Yeah - When they're looking behind to see how many cars he can take out at the first corner!!

I forgot to add... what is all this about? Are his people being ironic?

He had a great Race on the sunday Morning, but the final? What happened? It seems Castle Coombe revisited?

There are other drivers streets ahead on the track without the need for all the off track hype. Expressing my own point of view here - I loked at Clarkes site to find out his views on the Race weekend - but this is the top story and It seriously made me laugh out loud.

Nevermind eh? Maybe his dreams will come true next time out?

Im giving people a chance to prove he is what danielracing.com says he is. Making predictions like that is like Tottenham predicting that they will win the Premier League. Its risky and ends up with an egg on face situation.

Sorry ferrari 126ck but you seem to have misunderstod the purpose of that whole thing. Its all about PR and trying to raise money. For Dan it hopefully means he will end up in a magazine and someone will take notice.

...and if it makes you laugh, well hey, thats just a bonus.

Im very upset with this bulletin board. Whether you like Daniel or not, there's an 'arse of the year' joke waiting and im disappointed none of you have taken the opportunity

surely if other drivers can see his arse while he's in the car then that means he hasn't got any wheels on the ground?

You mean Daniel could be 'arse of the year'? Not his arse being 'arse of the year' but he himself?

Dan tends to alienate our gentle readers because he mouths off about his achievements and potential without a sense of grace or humility or humour - no tongue in cheek when Dan sings his own praises, yet we all await the promised results. You can forgive a guy who proclaims himself the next messiah if only he had some disciples or despite being called Brian, or whatever, but listening to someone sing their own praises before praise is merited is a tiresome chore. Sing with humour or wit or charm or humility, or wait until the results back up the claims. That, I think, is what people find irksome.

Well racing is a sport of adults and professionals, so maybe he should wait a few more years.

In my experience of motorsport I would say that it has the least adults or professionals of any industry I have ever worked in.

Having met Dan Clarke's a few times recently I think he comes across as a not bad bloke, but his PR is a problem.

PR is so often the problem, as it is ideally designed to follow success, not to anticipate it and then leave a hollow resonance.

We just need to see if DC's driving can do his PR for him in a world where naff PR doesn't really hack it with the professionals.
