It’s no longer Little Nob nor is it KKK.

My main concern is that Grumpy was 3.5 secs quicker in 356 S90 than the old car with Jack Tordoff who seems to be a decent driver.

Thought all the best bits were on yours!
PreA has a decent engine and bits as it was not particularly developed. The silver car is sortedasmyrallg car.
Would have thought either of your cars would be a couple of seconds faster
Certainly much less than those fancy 901’s
Why are you looking at this lot and not driving with Grumpy?

Just got home after a very long day .Both our cars going very well . If I had a pound for every time someone said “what you driving “.Errr well the money would of bought me a Goodwood bacon roll. 😀😀😀. Anyway great day and I can’t believe the number of spectators . Very impressed that Goodwood have everything covered with keeping people entertained fed and watered . I saw someone drinking a beer at 7.30 this morning . Early night for me as I’m running Reading half marathon in morning and then back to Goodwood to load up .

Watched a bit of stream through the day, whilst
in and out moving cars about!

I think I saw a few old cars in there somewhere.

Nice to see Escort win as opposed to the bleedin obvious

fab last lap from Simon in the
Aston

Have 911’s all been given the same steroid Lotus cortina/mini treatment?

I also saw quite a bit of the streaming on YouTube and thought most drove well in tricky conditions. Good late dice between the Capri and Kerry Michael's Escort - would the result have been the same if it had gone full time? Agree about the Aston - let's hope it's a bit slippy tomorrow, but not snowed off.

Mike - was that 'your' SLR I saw having a quick spin in the background?

Perhaps I'm a bit old fashioned but I don't particularly enjoy seeing cars win that weren't competitive in period, but maybe that's just me. The RS2000 was never that competitive, if you go back to late 70s early 80s results.....

The Hoare Trophy race was good, but there could have been more variety of cars. Billy Bellinger was the star in the green Morgan, he is a very talented preparer and pedaller.... Peter, the shiny SLR went off on the first lap, but recovered without touching anything. The owner is out again today in the Moss Trophy with his +4, so been told not to do it again. The red car, referred to by Marcus as the 'Spice' car as Gordon crashed it during first test in 1962 or thereabouts), retired as the engine went off song. That's after the engine had 2 rebuilds during the winter (failed on RR after first) after going sick at Portimao, having been rebuilt after retiring at Spa with piston failure, having been rebuilt after Silverstone after dizzy drive failure. Not a good record. The engine did a season of 11 long races in 2013 without any trouble, was still in good health when stripped after, and is rebuilt every winter!

If the RS2000 was unsuccessful ( on circuits ) why did you build one ? I can't remember an Escort Mk II racing in the BTCC . Presumably they were more popular in Europe . Sorry to see the SLR suffering more problems after the trials and tribulations of last year .

May be we should be happy with the low cost style this world is going. Yesterday you needed an ex-works Rover or Capri, and now a single Golf or a Fiesta is enough. Happy days?
I enjoy the TV coverage and the comments. Great show.

I'm of the opinion the conditions, very briefly, suited the lighter weight and power of the escort over the bigger boys, whilst it being just dry enough to better the minis.

I'd also presume Nick Stagg is behind the Escort, he knows what he's doing and definitely one of the good guys.

Let's face it history and fact have nothing to do with any of this, but it was a good show.

Goodwood seem to operate their own form of BoP for their saloon car races . In period little could touch the Capris until the Rovers came along and the 1300 class always tagged along at the back of the field . But as Joe says , the sight of Blundell and Jordan circulating nose to tail in near darkness with Jordan's Capri sliding to ever greater angles was wonderful .

Sadly looking out of my bedroom window the snow is coming down in ever greater quantities , albeit I'm a little way from Goodwood . Is there any weather news from the circuit yet ?

Apparently the track has been cleared. We're out around 2pm. Getting the trailer out may prove challenging.

TSL tweeted a photo of the pit straight clear of snow but grass sides and daffs have covering of snow. Only one car park is open (car park A I think), rest closed. The A3 heading towards Goodwood is at a standstill- not sure where.

A3? A27 is probably more important, Shoreham by sea has about 2" of snow but the roads are clear, the ground temperature is too high and it's all melting already.

5 tonnes of salt should do the trick.

Morning anyone at the circuit. We are about 15 miles from good wood and getting ready to leave. Is there any chance of racing today? The car parks were bad last night so if only A is open that should cause some fun. We do have 4 wheel drive, but.........!

Not at circuit but watching on live feed - racing underway as scheduled from what I can see. First race nearing the end.

Apologies, just passing on some info from someone on his way and stuck on A3 - not aware of the road network in that area.

Goodwood currently telling everyone to head for Car Park A - all others are closed - so keep an eye out for signs to that. From their twitter feed:

'All visitors will be directed into car park A.'

The circuit has been salted
See no reason to knacker car with situation as it is
Others are in same dilemma
A few have decided not to join party
Bad situation for both entrants and organisers

Perhaps Group One back in the day was a little different from today.
Twin IDF downdraught carb set up on a 2 litre pinto was the norm i believe.

Saturdays buzz word as to the differing spec was " Group Goodwood spec"

Would be interested to know if any post race scruit actually happens ?
Bore and Stroke check on Rovers & Capris maybe .
