GPL
Hey guys, if theres anyone I trust for GPL help, its the guys from Virtual Racers here at 10ths! Just thought I'd start a genereal GPL thread, people seem to be getting back into it these days, and i myself have managed to get into GPL. I also want to ask some questions, these being, firstly, is there any decent Sportscar mods, preferably late 60's/early 70's, out there? And also, would the xbox 360 wireless wheel be any good with GPL? I'm looking into getting that wee dongle thingy which is around a tenner I think, and dont have enough money to actually buy a new wheel, just want something that feels vaguely like properly playing GPL rather than the keyboard

No sportscar mods that I have seen, really.

Lol, just looked at that website - there's a link that says downloads, and when you click on it, it just gives a list!
wtf.
{Sorry I'm not offering anything even vaguely constructive here!}

Well, I found the link, but didn't really look at it much
Now I look further, seems it was never completed. Looks like another Duke Nukem Forever
Still, lots of sportscar stuff on rFactor, right?

The only completed mods I've known about are the 1965 and 1969. I don't think GPL was designed to be moddable in the same way that Rfactor was from the ground up. I remember someone creating a launcher to select which mod you wanted to use before launching the sim.
Funnily enough I've been thinking of reinstalling GPL as I stumbled across my install disc when sorting throught my stuff the other day.
As for the Microsoft wheel, it should work, but as far as I'm aware you wouldn't get any force feedback.

Yep, thats GEM+, which I use for the (rather excellent) Thundercars mod.
And i'm not too bothered about FB for the moment, anything is better than the keyboard..

Thats the one!
For the first few months after getting GPL I was using a joystick! It was really weird when I moved over to a wheel.

I believe its just the 360 wheel that doesn't have force feedback. Any other MS wheel works fine. I know that there's been a lot of campaigning for MS to sort out drivers, but they don't seem to want to sort it.

I still drive GPL occasionally - and I still maintain without hesitation it is by far the best sim you can drive - by a million miles, but I haven't raced 'seriously' for 4-5 years and they were talking about this mod back then.....
