Trucks!

Hi, Just Signed up to do the Truck meeting at Thruxton, Any advice!!!
I'm thinking, go and hide behind the spectators!
I take it it's just Fire cover, Flag and coms?
Still think they should have the Trailers on!!!

Yeah. When they tell you to push the thing, tell them where to stick it!!
I've always enjoyed doing trucks, as it is completely different!

You marshal normally for the all the support races, and then for the Trucks, all bar about 3 posts get stood down to a position of safety and get to watch. It is fantastic.

Nothing like the early days but good fun all the same
Not ideal, imo, for anyone suffering from allergies though
Found a clip of the Pembrey meet I was at last month

My dad and his team push started a truck at Pembrey a couple of years ago!
It is possible!

Fire cover is only done on the start/finish line when they grid up.
any thing that happens after that,we were told to stay on the bank till the course car came around, then you could give assistance if required.

But if your not on an active post, sit back and watch the spectacle.
If you are on an active post, stand well back.

But it is an experience you will never forget and will probably want to do it again.

But if you get the chance, pop down to Pembrey,it`s even more fun.(June 9/10 )

I always used to love doing Hatchetts at Pembrey, just to see the spectator's face when we all came up to the spectator area, as the post was too dangerous with trucks around.

Well the only 2 posts that are active at pembrey are 2 & 7.
At the last meet had 3 backmarkers coming up the back straight, they went 3 wide, only problem was the 2 lead trucks were behind,1 went to the left..1 went to the right.....on the grass.
Now thats what i call 5 trucks abreast,But oliver managed to get back on the tarmac before hitting post 6 on the infield

At Thruxton 05 we were on post 5, We were stood down, took our chairs up the bank walking past most of the speccies with their faces pressed against the fence as they sat down. We had some very worried looks. Low and behold one of the brake water tanks falls off the back of a truck and slides at warp speed towards the barrier, panicing speccies running everywhere. Ssafe marshals up the top of the bank chuckling away.

I've had a complete truck rear axle cartwheel pass me at Hatchets hairpin,in the days before it was deemed too dangerous to be on post

normally it is such a good package, but I always hope I am well clear of a manned post. I suppose it would be an experience but one I am currently happy to miss out on.

well the most recent record set by a truck was....
Post 8
honda curve
rookie 1st time at pembrey managed to jump the tyre wall completely,it was only the catch fence that stopped it going in to MOD land.
Driver was ok,but a tab narked off coz he couldn`t race on sunday.
well what do expect with a twisted chassis

I remember in my pre-accident days doing posts 3, 4 and 8 at Pembrey for the trucks. Great fun, and yes you needed some nerve at times to stay there, especially at 4 where they were approaching 3 wide at times!

But understand why most posts are abandoned these days. Armco doesn't stop a 5 tonne truck too well, have seen the evidence at Brands in the past when they used to hold the Superprix in the 80's there.
