Alfa Romeo LMP1 with a Ferrari F1 V6 Turbo engine.
This could be called Alfa Romeo Ferrari. |

Since Ferrari are now fully-committed to Formula One, I guess the only way for them to join the LMP1 class is give their F1 engine to either Maserati or Alfa Romeo.
Personally, I think Maserati would be a better candidate than Alfa Romeo. If neither can't do it, then I guess it's up to Chrysler who will do prototypes. After all, they're part of the Fiat-Chrysler alliance. But then again, it won't happen! |

Exactly. There is an dossier that was shared with Alfa stakeholders recently. It detailed their desire to return to motorsport. Not how, or with what, but an Alfa project is in the works.

I don't think it was supposed to be widely released, intentional leak? I don't know... EDIT:http://www.chryslergroupllc.com/Inve...Alfa_Brand.pdf EDIT 2:I know this details that they are bringing back the Giulietta, but, why speak about the motorsports stuff? Just seems odd unless you have motorsport plans. Last edited by MoMedic9019; 16 Jun 2014 at 18:21. |

What if Alfa goes to Touring cars...That seems like the easiest route doesn't it?

I don't, but Alfa seems like perfect fit for a touring car.
Then again Puegeot seemed like a fit for touring car but they did WRC with that hideous 307 and then came to Le Mans. Stranger things have happened. |

"A dream" means "any dream", which is very different than "(the) one dream". Buth both are written the same in Italian (and Spanish)

This failed 30-minute manufacturer announcement sounds like a very doubtful project, like Russian or Arab style.

Is it "I have a dream" or "I have one dream"?
The Interview with LdM when like this: - "Mr. Montezemolo, could you share a dream of yours?" - "A dream of mine? To win at LeMans!" Which would not be the direct translation from Italian, but the meaningful translation..... But I still prefer to argue about Audi having a more powerful engine and burning a lot less fuel than what anyone thinks |

Giancarlo Fisichella says a Ferrari LMP1 entry would be “a dream” following his GTE PRO victory at Le Mans.

if alonso was interested for real to run at le mans, ferrari was very happy to put him in an af-corse pro car... truth is that alonso doesn't care at all. When loeb ran for pescarolo, he ran in a private team and just for passion without any salary! Alonso is too much egocentric to run for free and to share the attention with 2 other drivers...
and making a quick calculation, alonso earns 25 mln of € for each F1 season. 20 x 300 = an average of 6000km per season (in race). This year AF corse won the gtpro class runnin 339 laps = 4644km. 4644km / 3 = 1548km per single driver if the whole distance is split for 3. So if a top team of GT-pro wants to hire alonso for a le mans ride, should spend not less than 6.45 mln of € for his salary... |

Alonso would have no problem doing it in the future. Again, if they got other "partners" to put up the money, they'd do it. But with the F1 team in disarray and the Italian economy as bad, it's tough to see them taking the plunge let alone coming up with a convincing effort to despose Audi. In any event, I'm sure this is all bluster to strongarm F1 bosses into seeing things their way.

There is always Alonso being Mark's mate, and hearing how NICE the water is in this pond.
Most F1 drivers have enough to live on after 2-3 seasons. Both those guys have put in around 10. I doubt salary would be a major object of contention. Merely confirmation of status. That is how JV measured it... |

Reality? The only current F1 driver who has made a definitive statement about whether he would go prototype racing after his career was over is Jenson Button who said he wasn't interested. |

I know, I know, and for sure F1 teams became even more restrictive after kubica incident. But I said that if Alonso was going to try a ride at le mans, I'm sure that ferrari would have found a seat for him in an af corse pro car. Anyway I just think that top F1 drivers simply don't care about le mans and sportscars.
