They could have written ‘F1 delayed due to alien invasion’ as the headline. Typical clickbait

Not really as no where in the article, or what Chase said, talks about alien invasion. It does mention they are aiming for a maximum of 18 races and there is a possibility of none.
It could say F1 bosses say something similar to what they've said for weeks. |

It's only a matter of time before COVID-19 is blamed on aliens....

It was a direct quote from a phone hook up with share holders, how would you have headlined it? When you think about it ALL headlines are click bait because that is the fundamental purpose of a headline. I suppose if it does not suit your POV then it is labelled as click bait? What do you think he should have said that would suit you?

To be fair it is better how it is because it suits you! It works both ways that line.
My suggestion of a headline is also a direct quote. The point is that if you actually read the article the story is that they are trying to have lots of races, possibly 15-18, but they realise that things may not develop how they want and worst case it could be none. Which is not that different from the outut from Liberty before. So an accurate headline is “F1 bosses push for 15-18 races, but huge uncertainty remains”. Doesn’t get the clicks of those who like to look for the worst in people though. |

All headlines are click bait, it is the only way they can get someone to read or buy the story and everyone gets a slant out of the story that they want me and you included. They used to put big headline banners at sales points to sell daily newspapers so people would buy them. To infer the link is tainteed because the headline is written in a manner to attract attention is stating the obvious.

Wow that's a thought. Maybe time for the Daleks to make an appearance and we can all go on to war footing and boost the economy making ray guns

Of course. It saved the world from the Great Depression. "Some say" that the re-militarisation of Germany helped it enormously.

Another spanner in F1’s plans if such measures were in place coming back from Austria for a Silverstone event on consecutive weekends.? Would F1’s testing regime be enough to gain some form of exemption? |

If it is just air travel it would make no difference as they could drive.
If all travel arrivals, I would hope no exemption as that would be appalling. |

If this is the case, it seems a bit strange to bring in these quarantine measures at the end of May, rather than implementing them from the outset.

I would think it’s a case of ... we have the U.K. variation of the virus levelled out, maybe on the downturn, so avoid a second wave, which might be a slightly different variation from another country/continent.
But timing is a bit strange unless it goes along with other announcements on travel at the same time. |

More detailed reporting from The Times (which seems to be the outlet which broke the story) is all arrivals by all methods from everywhere except ROI, including returning Brits. Exemption for truck drivers, ship crew and others making essential trips. Start by end of month, no duration stated. "Enforcement" would be person declaring on arrival the address at which they would isolate for 2 weeks, with spot checks and fines for breaches.

I’m a bit out of touch. Will The full plan be announced on Sunday in the UK?

Not the full plan I don’t think Adam, not least because Boris doesn’t speak for all of the U.K. as some elements are devolved. But as the articles suggest something is afoot.

50 states over here who all could act a little differently! In some ways that is good as the situation does vary based on population, etc..., but in others a bit daft if rules are very different across open state lines. However as long as it is broadly consistent...
The 14 day thing keeps me from visiting for the time being. |

This 14 day quarantine is another case of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted.....
