[Tech Issue] Front exit exhausts?

I don't believe the BS that Red Bull is saying. If they set their 'fast times' on high fuel, why is it that during testing times they fell off around 2 seconds in the next laps after their 'qualifying lap times' were set? I don't think they are as far ahead as everyone thinks. And McLaren and Mercedes definitely aren't as far back as people seem to think either. They definitely won't be in the midfield. That's just stupid to assume. We'll see in the next couple weeks with the upcoming test.

I see the budget cap debate has moved over here, the team may only employ 315 but what about their suppliers and who decides what they can buy in and at what price?

On the issue of front exit exhausts, This is something you would want to play with for hours in a wind tunnel and is for me a really interesting development.

lol, why on Earth would Red Bull tell anyone that they are sandbagging? Did you actually read the quote or did you try and absorb it through your fingertips by rubbing your hands on your monitor? Here is the quote:

This is a claim made by a journalist in a magazine based on his own analysis of the test data and has nothing to do with anything Red Bull has said

maybe if the put something in the petrol so it produced coloured exhaust, like aerobatic planes do

Smoke and petrol will be banned soon (that's the price you pay for being the 'pinnacle of motor sport'), so very little point.

Renault seem to be quite good at spraying the Total on the exhausts, if last year was anything to go by. .

The tears of Squirrels is what I've heard.

I wonder how many teams are actually 'beavering' away at making their own front exiting exhaust system, right now? It's something that you might want to be looking at, particularly if you haven't got a KERS.

That stuff is bad for you, when you drink lots for years it gives you cirrhosis, and would ruin a great little tax earner far better we all keep breathing in benzine and octanol chains, fatal if swallowed, and polluting our waterways with mercury, lithium and god knows what else to promote our green industry.

That sounds about right, given that the Global Warming Potential of Methane is 72x that of Carbon Dioxide over a 20 year period, the damn animals breath out Carbon Dioxide and fart methane in copious quantities and produce nearly no tears at all, it would seem to be the definite way to go.

Has anyone suggested a natural gas tax btw. it is just about pure methane and has 72x the global warming potential of carbon dioxide?

Benzine tax perhaps - potent carcinogen?

Maybe we can find a government department that wants a definitive study proving that squirrel tears are definitely the way to go and should be the basis of the western worlds future economic and "job creation" focus!

not at all, tears can't be extracted - they have to be made by a gland so you need some kind of emotional stimulation. The CIA has piles of research material on the subject as they use test-squirrels to develop all their psychological warfare techniques - due to them having a very similar ideology to Al Quaida

Exactly, by pressing on the tear gland the tears can then be extracted. I wouldn't be surprised if the CIA were involved, anyone remember Secret Squirrel? Who has a very similar ideology to Al Quaida, the Squirrels?

Williams will become the next team to follow Red Bull’s lead with the layout of its blown exhaust system.
After reportedly finding itself a few tenths behind the RB7 in initial testing, Ferrari is believed to have hastily copied the layout that is now being tested in Barcelona.
A similar upgrade has also been put together for Williams’ FW33.
"We have played with all the different variations in CFD," the British team’s technical director Sam Michael is quoted by Auto Motor und Sport.

"The most efficient solution is Red Bull’s," he concluded.

Surely there's a bit more mileage yet in having your exhaust fumes exiting from different parts of the car?

it seems that other teams have abandoned any development after some testing, at a guess I would say they all had too many problems with overheating sending the exhaust that way, whereas the Renault was designed to do that from the start obviously. if it isn't banned maybe we'll see some more cars doing it next season
