Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
The R5 is built

Well is was finished on Saturday and is a all new car but its pinnings from the R4 . With a traditional nose & under budget (not that I get caught up in the FORD lack of money hype) . Fingers crossed not Just for Webber (my main interest) but if Jag can keep their foward movement up the grid is better for the sport . With 3 team on the cusp of the top 4 being Jag ,Toyota,BAR and all look to be having a good year you could say F1 is booming .

I still see Jag's main rival as BAR so I forsee many discussion with neilap and co this year

Ooh, it's being tested in Lommel.
I must check up there sometime next week.

I'm looking forward to seeing it run and I hope it does well.

But I can't help thinking if its under budget just to please the board of directors at Ford. I don't mean that negatively as I really would like to see them up and mixing it with the 'the big 3' but with all the talk over the past couple of years I just can't help it.

But saying that Jaguar wouldn't field an underveloped car as that would jeopartdize the future..

Arrgghh!! my brain..

The underbudget bit should see the car ok for the first few races, presuming the thing is any good straight out of the box, till the bigger teams do more aero work and pull away...

Perhaps, but the commercial decision to supply Jordan with the same spec engine means the Jaguar-ites have to hope Bridgestone has another ordinary year to keep the Jag in front of it.

Call me biased, but Webber will beat anyone Jordan has to offer without a great deal of trouble.

*prays* that the R5 is a rocketship...

Even if it races like it qualified last year, I will be reasonably happy because it will mean MW can fight for some podiums. Go you good thing

As I said, call me biased...

Or Ford are playing safe beating on both Tyre companies
not the Jordan with help that thinking .
Jag should dispose of Jordan without much thought

I hope the R5 does well, but sadly I can't be too optimistic about this. Not many underfunded teams make a race-winning car (lucky win last year aside).

Jaguar should be battling for a top six finish in the WCC if they can continue the development they did from last year. But they need to have two competitive cars out there and not just be relying on Webber to bring home the bacon.

All the talk of budget is meaningless
The car will depend entirely on the tech director(and the ability of the team director to let him get on with it.Last years car was basic and had no stupid mistakes.they can easily do it again

The aim of the R5 was to build on the strength of the R4 while eliminating its weakspots. Whether that will be enough to move it forward remains to be seen...

I can't see how a conservative development of an already barely competitive design an possibly hope to score regular points against so many other teams who will be going agrressively for big steps up in terms of performance. Fair enough, the new regulations put more of a premium on reliability, but expecting both cars from five faster teams (big 3, Renault, BAR) to break down is a just little optimistic!

I'm pretty sure you can expect the Honda's to blow. The R5 was always going to be a development, but I don't agree that the R4 was slow. It showed quite often that it was quick; reliabilty being it's shortcomings. I expect to see Jaguar to be moderately competitive and hopefully nail down 5th place.

They won't always blow, surely. The R4 was a let-down in the races, but I agree it was impressive in qualifying - although perhaps that was the Webber effect.

I stick by my prediction - BAR 5th, Jaguar fighting with Toyota for 6th.
