The Fat Clerk should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Bye Bye Fernando

Time to give a youngster a chance, well done.

So this leaves the question of what he's going to do next year instead of F1?
I'd guess maybe a couple of WEC races including Le Mans, plus some Indycar stuff (maybe a whole season?) to gain experience ready for the Indy 500?

The other (set of) question(s) is who will McLaren replace him with?
Williams seem to have proved that although young drivers who bring money in may be useful to the team in the short term, experience is needed in order to develop the car. The trouble is there aren't that many good & experienced drivers without a contract for next year as far as I know...

Sainz and Vandoorne?

Sainz because McLaren has shown interest, he's probably free (soon), and fast and quite experienced.
Vandoorne because it's not the team's habit to change both drivers at once (last time was in 2006/07) and he offers some kind of continuity. Even if he hasn't got the results, McLaren knows what kind of feedback/input he provides and if that is of any use or not...

Norris is a possibility but the team has indicated they first need a good car before they could put young inexperienced drivers in, and he too has said a second year of lower formula wouldn't do him harm.

Apart from these 3, I don't see who else might go there?
* Perez? Been there, done that ...
* Ocon? A Mercedes junior ...
* ...?

I have it on good authority that Fernando will be taking the Grave Digger drive next year. True story.

Clearly he is returning to Honda, with Team Dynamics in BTCC.

That's the Triple Crown, right? Monaco GP, Le Mans 24 Hours, and Race 3 at Croft in the BTCC?

I doubt we’ll see Alonso back in F1. And if we do, I SERIOUSLY doubt we’ll see him win races, let alone championships. A career of missed opportunities, but his were wounds largely self-inflicted.

Don't they run those crazy Robby Gordon trucks on the street course in Detroit? Could see if there's an Alonso Detroit triple crown, Indy, IMSA and trucks win. And it seems TransAm was there as well so a quad for Alonso?

SkySports blatantly making stuff up about him going to IndyCar next year.

Yes, presenting as fact what is only supposition (however plausible).
