It's still a steal compared to pretty much everything else out there. I think smaller markets like Greece will have to look at a multiclass structure with TC3 making up only the top rather than the whole field.

Well I assumed it was based on their WTCC car. In that case it would cost much more than 100k. But I understand it's not and thus a newly designed car.

Speed King obviously it should be like this. But even top class has to be somehow realistic for cars to come. By the way the price quote for Ford was from this weeks Autosport

The series website is online now: has some interesting info that we/I hadn't known so far.

Target price is apparently 70k €.
There's also an illustrated car list, though I am not sure how representative that is. The AMG CLA cup racer from Brazil is on there as is the VLN spec Astra OPC. There's also a new rendering of the Focus, and -rather implausibly- a pic of the monster VW Golf GTI 24 from a few years back.

TC3 can't be sustainable with an international calendar and no top dricers or television deals. It should be a European championship.

Another interested team: http://www.tc3internationalseries.co...-in-tc3-series

Taking that one with a grain of salt, they were also rumored to race in Indycar this year and nothing came of that.

As a typical single seater ladder team, they'll probably race in whichever series they can find customers in.

http://www.racinglife.nl/news/brcc-wat-in-2015-/

Kronos Events (the promoter of the Belgian GT championship) is officially working on a new Belgian Touring Car Series for 2016.

The GT-Series will continue at least for 2015, but they won't have stand-alone races anymore, but rather be piggy-backed onto existing series like GT-Open and (Dutch) Supercar Challenge.

These guys are a saying that it'll be indeed be the TC3 rules that the new series might going to be run under in 2016.

Is just me thinking or just two cars available for this category so far? Their problem isn't emotional. It's administrative.

I hope not, that's more of a GT4 isn't is? Not quite the hot hatch they're aiming for.

Also, the cars in the German one-make-series are all run in-house like the Sciroccos were. VW never released any of those Sciroccos for to privateer teams in other series, so I supposse it will be the same with the Audis.

This really looks like a Scirocco-Cup 2.0... engine specs sound very similar with the push to pass and everything - and if it really shares a lot of tech with the Scirocco it'll be quite a bit slower than what TC3 is going for.

All in all I am really quite underwhelmed, lots of wasted potential.

Yes, I was just hoping that the mindset would change with Audi running things now and the cars would be made available to privateers in various series.

It is 310bhp so it is right there with the Seat, ok not a hatch but why not?

It's a GT.

Please keep TC3 a touring car series.
There already enough series for GT cars.

Here's what I would do. Have a semi-merge of GT4 and TC3... don't make them one class, but put them in the same performance window so that series that want to run them together (think 1970s DRM or 90s Belgian Procar) can do that and those that don't want to can run a pure touring car or a GT-series.

As for the Audi, I was wrong there.... for some reason I had thought it had the 235bhp engine from the Scirocco-Cup-cars, but with 310bhp it would actually fit TC3 quite well.

It's certainly not a GT though. It's got the exact same power train (including dsg box) as the Seat Lean Cup. The R8 is Audi's GT car.

It's probably got more in common with an entry level touring car.

It's just the roofline / number of doors is not in common with a true touring car. But if you modified the roofline of a León like this...

TC3 Series

I have read rumors that Engstler is developing the Golf while JAS is preparing a customer Honda. Both would make a lot of sense and would prove that Lotti gets a lot of faith from within the touring car world.
