Brick fears at Indianapolis Rubens Barrichello crosses the yard of bricks Concern over lack of grip on the infamous 'yard of bricks' at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has led to a change in the position of pole on the circuit ahead of the US Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher, who is pole position for the 30th time in his career, was alerted to the fact that pole is located just two feet from the circuit's famous landmark - the yard of bricks. Ferrari complained to the FIA that the German could be at a disadvantage at the start and requested that the location of pole on the circuit be changed. The lack of grip could seriously affect the Ferrari's getaway potentially handing the impetus to McLaren rivals David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen, who start from second and third on the grid respectively. Although no official statement has yet been released, Ferrari have almost certainly won their argument. New markings were being painted on the track late on Saturday night which means third on the old grid will now become pole, with every other driver moving back a position on their side of the track. Ferrari sporting director Jean Todt confirmed from Indy: "We are expecting it (the changing of the grid position) to happen. We had concerns and we expressed them. It's not a problem for other forms of racing because they have a rolling start to lead them away, but with Formula One it (the bricks) might be dangerous." |

Yeah, you'd think but they handled it okay. Simple solution in moving the grid back one full position and there didn't seem to be any problems. Unless, of course, you're David Coultard.
