Look What I Found in My Local Toyota Dealership

We have had new Toyota Dealership open here in Wakefield and they have this on display.

It's a Toyota 90CV, I had a quick look through the window and located the chassis platle, and it says that it is chassis number 6. Now according to the information sheet it says it raced at Le Mans, but i'm sure about that. The drivers names which appear on the door are Geoff Lees and John Watson.

I have had a look on a couple of websites and can't find any race history for the car. I have a feeling that the car was a show car, but I could be wrong.

I had a quick look, I also think I didn´t raced in Le Mans. But Team Sard had a spare car in 1990, #38T, I have no number of this, so it´s possible this could be the spare car. Sard run with a similar white / red livery.

I also think you could be right. The 36 Geoff Lees car which competed at Le Mans in 1990 was the number 4 chassis. The other two cars were chassis 2 and chassis 3. And John Watson was driving a Porsche.

Lees and Watson (with Dunfries) did share a chassis #06 at Le Mans, but it was in 89 and the car was an 89CV.

It was in Taka Q colours, not the blue and white scheme seen on Rob's picture. Too my untrained eye there was not alot of differance visually between the 89CV & 90CV, so could it be any 89CV with later bodywork?

I have just watched the 1990 LM on video and I can't see car in those colours either. My only thought is that it was used in the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship.

Your wife will hope you are going to get the Camray, but if you can work out the payments I think the one in the picture is the way to go.

No - it's Toyota corporate colours, and it is a hybrid structurally.

What kind of finance package were they offering?

Great car though, sure beats the potted plants of the dealerships around here.

Thanks for the information so far, I do have some more photo's of the car which I will be post, when I get home.

I would be nice to find out the full history of the car, from the information which people have posted here and other forum's it some sort of hybrid of the 89-CV and the 90-CV.

Now looking at some pictures of the 90-CV it looks as if they used several different configeration's of rear wings through out the year. 1990 was a bit of bad year for Toyota, before Le Mans they lost 2 chassis's in crashes and then another was damaged beyond repair there in the crash with Gianfranco Brancatelli Nissan.

The Toyota 90CV #06 was build, but never raced. So it is possible that this was #06 of the 90CV. And with the bodywork: That can happenes: in the Porsche museum the "ORIGINAL" 1987 Porsche 962 has the rear bodywork of the 1988 Porsche 962

Perhaps since the chassis number is 10 (from Dani's link) and the plate says 6 it may be a hybrid of 89 #6 and 90 #4?
