Not sure if you heard already, but McIntosh blew a motor in the first day of testing.

Cheers,

looks like the WS will be an interesting season this year with alot of the new gus out to proove themselves. i have to say i was surprised not to see hanley higher up with all his testing miles now. but fair play to carlin and their boys, as well as their boys running the victory cars.

so then who do you think will take the tittle then? although a little early to say.

I hate to draw the wrath of His Highness, but Soucek's going surprisingly well in WS, especially now that they've tested outside of Espana.

Well just when you say that he doesn't do so well today. He did the 17th time.
From today's test I think some performances are interesting and I think we can see who will really be in front during the season (IMO, maybe i'm wrong, only predictions). I mean Hanley 1st, Montanari 2nd, McIntosh 3rd, Aleshin 4th, Rossiter 5th, Salignon 6th, Garcia 7th, Kerr 8th.....
This was the last test before the 1st race at the end of april at zolder...

WORLD SERIES ON ICE!
All fifteen World Series Formula Renault 3.5 teams gathered at the German venue to take part in the final pre-season collective test before the championship starts on April 29-30 in Zolder (Belgium). Spring was nowhere to be seen here, however, as the teams had to cancel two hours of testing today due to the poor track conditions!

I have to admit Soucek is going very well, i can`t say i had heard of him before testing started but he has certainley made the right impression so far, but more importantly so are Interwetten in general, i am bound to say this but i still think Eric will beat him over the course of the season, my six title contenders in no particular order are, - Fleming, Kerr, Maldonado, Pilet, Pavlovic and Salignon. Roll on what could and should be a top seasons racing i say.

Not too long until the first race - McIntosh has been impressive now he's used to the car. I also wonder how Rossiter will do. Should be a very close season!

Is anyone showing the races on TV?

Looks like a fair assessment to me cds, with possible exception of Milos. I'd be inclined to replace him in my 'likely' list with Hanley and/or Rossiter/Kane, all 3 of whom shoe demonstrably better longer term potential based on what they've done in the last couple of years.

I also think Borja is underrated and will be out to prove a point having failed to secure a second season in GP2 so he can't be discounted (not wishing to put any pressure on the lad!).

Well he gets a F1 test with Renault if we take previous years winners but I think this is still maintained. Except from that I don't know what else the winner gets.

People will def. move - I've read several articles about how difficult it was to get a clear lap on new tyres in testing. Probably a lot of deliberate blocking and other games going on!!

Indeed, great to have Toccacelo once again in WSBR. Can he take the title this year? He will be up against it when you consider the lack of pre season testing he has had but he does IMO have the skill. Will be interesting to see how he goes up against the likes of Kerr, Shimoda, McIntosh, Rossiter etc.

The point is not a lot blocking or other games: there were 4 set of tyres given in Barcelona and then 3 in Le Mans and Nurburgring, a lot is depending on how many the various teams wanted to keep for the following events...about this there was quite a bit of strategy...don't get the classification of every session as the real values on track at that moment.

With the musical chairs going on at Eurointernational i would like to rethink my six title contendors, again in no particular order they are, - Fleming, Kerr, Maldonado, Pilet, Salignon and Toccacelo, are the drivers in WSBR really that much weaker than GP2, i think not.

There is a gap between GP2 and WSBR in terms of driving abilty. IMO. Perhaps not huge, but it is there. Take the top guys from WSBR and whilst they woudnt struggle in GP2 I doubt they would do more than get a few points finishes throughout the course of the season. Get a top level GP2 driver however, say Hamilton, Piquet, Lappiere, Premat etc and put them in WSBR and they should walk away with the championship with relative ease. Providing of course the GP2 drivers had adaquete testing to get used to the cars and gel with the team. IMO.

I disagree Saleen, whilst the GP2 grid is better on the whole i think the top WSBR guys would do far more than pick up a few points, the six i named and maybe a couple more would get on the podium over the course of a season, i have no doubt about that, Toccacelo finished runner up in F3000 only a couple of seasons ago afterall didn`t he and i doubt that he is the pick of the WSBR crop.

i disagree too, i doubt someone like robbie kerr would struggle in gp2. gp2 testing also showed that rossiter didn't struggle, and considering his experience with ill-behaved powerful cars, i think mcintosh would be fine too.

i think you're confusing the art factor in gp2 with wsr's lack of real dominant teams.
