Under average F1 race but certain sections of the course, the packed grand stands, large and enthusiastic crowd gave me a reason smile a few times.

I enjoyed the race, but it was a more typical "win from the front" affair, with not a huge amount of action down the field.

Hopefully next year Pirelli will bring softs and super softs to liven things up, and the teams can get their cooling setups working a little better in the high heat, thin air conditions.

The race was rather boring, BUT, with some relatively minor layout tweaks and different tyre choices by Pirelli I think it has great potential. Loved the crowd and would really like to see it as the last round of the championship instead of that christmas tree decoration in Abu Dhabi.

Because in the modern era 2 and a half odd miles is too short a lap time.

With the exception of street circuits where there are clear layout limitations, a road course is better with at least 3 miles imo.

Most of them are at least that length.

But it is inherently wrong when people cannot overtake even with DRS on a near mile long straight!!

Funny how Rosberg just pops up and beats Hamilton who he has been nowhere near all season.
Just the swings and roundabouts of racing.

Definitely the best car. I'm not too sure about the best drivers.

I have to say I think there's some possiblity that it was an internal team pre-race arrangement to let Rosberg win in order to forestall any internal feuding.

The question is, how many races this year, and last, did Mercedes not chose the winner of?

Rosberg has been matching Hamilton's pace for a few races now, at least in qualifying. But in Mexico he made no clumsy mistakes and had no car failures. While Rosberg has been unable to consistently beat Hamilton over a season, he has proven often enough he can rival Hamilton on a good day.

Interesting thing about this "Rate the race" concept is that there are at least three different things happening.
1) The TV show which most of are judging the race on in this forum. Can be very much influenced by the direction, camera work quality and the commentary.
2) The event which you really have to attend to be able to judge. Over the years have been to Adelaide, Singapore, Melbourne and Sepang which I would rate in that order as enjoyable and exciting events. That is as much up to the organisers, the local crowds and the location as it is the racing itself.
3) Finally it is down to the competition on the day itself which is the area which is governed by layout, weather, teams and regulations.

Mexico was by the look of it a pretty average competition, a rather average TV show but a superbly atmospheric and exciting event to attend.
