New Civic Type R

I've just been reading in Autocar about the new Honda Civic 3dr Type R and it's really good value. It's a 2.0i 16v motor developing 197BHP, does just under 150mph, 0-62mph in 6.8 secs, combined fuel economy 32mpg, group 15 insurance and only costs £15995. Just need to wait for the second hand prices to come down next year and I'll have one of those thank-you.

Nowt wrong with Honda in my opinion, there now making some very quick and sporty cars to get rid of the old image.

fuel economy 32mpg

In this day and age, 32mpg for a family car is a disgrace.

I've mentioned before on this forum that last summer I owned a Civic VTi. It was fun at first, but after 10 weeks I was bored of it. It might have had 154bhp from 1600cc but it only had 90-odd lb/ft of torque. Plus with extra-short gearing it was no fun on long journeys and only got an average of 35mpg.

My current (ten year old) Saab has approx 230bhp AND lb/ft of torque and feels fast all the time, which the Honda didn't. Plus it averages 30mpg... (and only cost around a quarter of the price of a new Civic Type-R)
