I think he alludes to it in the chapter "I, Perry McCarthy, am The Stig, and here's a photocopy of the contract that defines "The Stig" as "Perry McCarthy" together with a notarized certificate stating that it's a true and definitive copy of the contract and that there is no other Stig".

Pffffff!!!

Can't these people ever get to the point!

All these vague allusions, and non-commital hints.

I agree, there's too much doubt over the issue.

I have a friend who met Perry McCarthy and that is how I found out he was the Stig (Black) a few years back as he got a few copies of the his book signed and I think they met him a number of times at Le Mans.

Top Gear. Old Stig, New Stig.

On Top Gear, the old Stig, dressed in black, was Perry McCarthy.

Who do you think the new white Stig is?

Thanks for that redshoes. This is what I got from that thread.

It used to DEFINITELY be Perry McCarthy & now it's DEFINITELY Ben Collins.

I just read all 24 pages of this thread....Christ it hurt.

Maybe we should post a reminder at the top of each page.

I've just read "Flat Out, Flat Broke" by Perry McCarthy. He describes how he came to be The Stig and then goes on to say that his contract was for three series, at the end of which he would become a presenter. Have we reached the end of the three series yet?

only just, but they got rid of him after he gave away the secret - thus the incedent with the aircraft carrier.

kmsport has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
If Stig has driven a modern F1 ...
Dont you need 6 months practice to engage the clutch and get moving in one of those things?

The Renault F1 car was driven by Franck Montgary wearing the Stig's helmet.

Back at the time most seemed to believe it was Heikki Kovalainen rather than Frank Montagny drove the Renault F1 around Top Gear track.

Well it's obvious really.

Franck Montagny never gets an opportunity.

A race seat pops up, give it to a slow ex-world champion!

A slot on Top Gear pops up, give it to the Finn!

A toilet cleaning vacancy arises, give it to Montagny!

hmmm...

BBC Radio wales announced yesterday that the stig's identity is in fact Julian Bailey (http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/drv-baijul.html,http://f1-facts.com/overview/person/Bailey).

either this is true, or an attempt at pushing the public further away from the truth!
