AntiLagSystem: latest technology?
If you search for ALS on the internet, all you see is about the first ALS sytem that work with ignition, valve opening and hot unburned fuel. But they all say there is a new technology with EGT, how does that work then? This seems to be less stress for the engine and less noisy...

as far as I understand, the original systems simply dumped raw fuel into the exhaust manifold where it would burn, the new systems which are used by all the wrc teams and are available in aftermarket ecu's basically advance spark timing so much that the exhaust valve is open and your charge is still burning. Either way is rough on the engine/turbo because it significantly increases your exhaust gas temperature (EGT). I heard mention of certain attempts to use variable valve timing but haven't heard a lot of that lately and it does present the same high EGT problem
