Gerben24 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Holiday over, WSBK round 9

You would nearly forget about this championship with such a long break, but next weekend WSBK will be in BRNO.

Championship standings:
1 Toseland GBR 260
2 Bayliss AUS 239
3 Haga JPN 234
4 Biaggi ITA 217
5 Corser AUS 182
6 Lanzi ITA 133
7 Xaus ESP 130
8 Rolfo ITA 109
9 Neukirchner GER 100
10 Kagayama JPN 89

This used to be a Biaggi track, so will he race himself back into contention? Hope so!

I haven't heard any news regarding the Alto Evolution team, I wonder if they will be back (check the WSBK round 8 thread if you're not up to date with this story). I know Brookes has left this team, gone to Stiggy Motorsports to ride the 600cc Honda and was fastest during a test at Vallelunga.

At the end of last month there was a two day test in BRNO. These were the times:
=1. Yukio Kagayama JPN Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra GSXR1000 K7 2min 0.4 secs
=1. Troy Corser AUS Yamaha Motor Italia YZF R1 2min 0.4 secs
3. Noriyuki Haga JPN Yamaha Motor Italia YZF R1 2min 0.8 secs
4. James Toseland GBR Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR 2min 0.9 secs
5. Lorenzo Lanzi ITA Ducati Xerox 999F07 2min 1.0 secs
6. Troy Bayliss AUS Ducati Xerox 999F07 2min 1.1 secs
7. Max Biaggi ITA Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra GSXR1000 K7 2min 1.2 secs
8. Fonsi Nieto SPA Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse ZX10R 2min 1.6 secs
9. Roberto Rolfo ITA Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR 2min 1.7 secs
10. Regis Laconi ITA Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse ZX10R 2min 1.8 secs

Expect more of the same as we have had this season, great racing, with the usual suspects at the front.

Double your pleasure this weekend! I will have to find a way to tape this race. Can't miss this! Hoping for Haga, Bayliss and Biaggi on the box.

Much as I hope James wins the title, I hope he at least takes a while to clinch it. A couple of poor races for him could leave us with 4 riders from 4 different teams within a single victory of the lead.

Supersport has picked up a lot of riders who've lost out elsewhere - Pitt, West and now Brookes (it's a magnet for Aussies....).

Even the old Aussies like Kevin Curtain can still ride around and pinch the odd win while they wait for the old age pension

Pole for Haga. First man ever on a Superbike under 2 minutes. Biaggi's lap was amazing as he almost fell and he still ended up 2nd.

Good to see Nakatomi in superpole on that beautifull blue Yamaha.

Smrz was slowest in superpole, but he is riding a 2 year old (!) Ducati.

A classic race once again. Bayliss was pants. Bayliss was taken out, yeah, but if he had raced at the front this wouldn't have happened (Biaggi didn't do anything stupid this time).

I wonder why Muggeridge fell tho? Looked strange.

Bayliss was actually in the process of being mullered by Lanzi, so he deserved little. Anyways, at the rate he was going he's probably only lost 4 or 5 points.

Meanwhile, at the front...

Great scrap in race one. I was surprised JT got it, I had a feeling his tyres would fade quicker, but he did a great job. Perfect, he even bust Max's hand on the way!

Haga must be dissapointed with fourth. Sure he'll make up for it in race two.

Theory on Aus tv was that the engine seized or something.

But we don't know.

In the meantime another Aussie, Broc Parkes torpedos Robin Harmes out of second place in the last corner of the last lap in the supersport race...

Well at the least the buggers didnt get their own way in WSBK, in fact the most rubbish one of the lot took out the guy who looked likely to get Ducati another world title! How amusing!!

Think Haga was suffering usual tyre woes to be hoest and shame for Corser who gets all the Yamaha bad luck it seems.

Toseland rode like a champ, and Biaggi could win round there on an MZ.

And get in there Jones! Not bad for a second string bike!

Barry Veneman 10th, JUST in front of his teammate Kalio! Therefore he was the best placed Suzuki rider.
That's all there is to say about my countrymen (if you don't look at the superstock series).

only saw the 1st superbike race, very impressed with the toseland ride - see he did almost aswell in the 2nd race. great day for him

muggeridge - nah, bayliss was struggling big-time....

Disappointment.

I was really looking forward to Haga closing in on JT in the championship, I feel this year may well be Nori's best and last chance at grabbing a title but the Yamaha tyre issues cropped up again and a great opportunity for a double went begging. Closing down a very consistent JT is now looking somewhat unlikey barring some appalling luck which he doesn't deserve.

I was thinking that next year Haga would canter to the title.

Then I remembered the new Ducati regs.
