I think JR on his own would be enough Iain.

Nice seeing you dikko! I was the annoying pit marshal(Chief) that kept talking about old times?

Hi Terry! Thanks for your hospitality, efficiency and company. (Terry folks, is an ex-fireman who served with my old Dad a few moons ago, recognised by the badge on his overalls..got to chatting and hey presto). Hope to see you again sometime soon.
Yellow Wedge of cheese is me Percy in my normal life - not the dream I was in at Oulton... I'll pm you, great shots. |

dikko,
Sorry, I forgot that you were out in the DB in the Surtees or would have taken more shots. I have 2, both much the same, sadly. Have a few from the FF qualifying as well. They need a little editing for presentation. I seem to have missed the FF race whilst trekking back to the paddock area from Knickerbrook. I'll happily make the full size files available if you want them. I have quite an interesting sequence taken at the first corner early in qualifying, if you know anyone who may be interested .... |

For what it's worth the colour on my shot(s) of the Surtees, cloudy at the time, is also not good. As I noticed earlier in the year, anything dark, but especially dark blue and especially in bright sunlight, can look entirely wrong from a colour perspective. The cloudy conditions would, in theory, be better but it seems not on Monday. That said I suspect that my editor is not entirely well tuned to the images from the camera I was using (hired for a trial in the case of the surtees shot. the FF shgots are my regular camera) and so were less well colour balanced than they should have after going through basic processing. But we are digressing from the thread - happy to take it up elsewhere if you are interested. |

Had a superb day on Monday...Seeing the listers and maseratis in full song during the Stirling Moss Trophy race was worth the entry fee alone.. and loved the closeness of the rally stage..
got the great mans autograph (And Lady Susies too, and she was a lady... was a bit upset to see a few idiot jostling Sir Stirling to get pics with him and throwing their arms around him etc etc.. i just lined up and politly thanked him... he didnt need to do it, but some people are so bloody ungreatful..that side did leave a bit of a bad taste) All my pics are here... feel free!! http://s855.photobucket.com/albums/a...%20Gold%20Cup/ |

Thanks EM. You caught me in action on the blue flag at Hill Top.
Complex situation there with the Lister, Morgan and AC being on different paces and the DB2/4 being overtaken by a Lotus 23. Come to think of it the blue flag was pretty busy all the way through the race. Great event. Cheers DM |

Photographically speaking there was some really nice light around at Oulton on Monday morning for the early qualifying sessions.
Here is Ten Tenther RudErnst in his Ralt RT1. Of course what it was like to drive through the low sun is another matter .... |

Some great pics there EM, really bring back memories of the race and event!
There was also a BBC TV crew following SirSM around- apparantly something to be screened on 'Inside Out' which may be regional? Was interesting watching the rally V8 Firenza and Sport Quattro cornering styles- the Firenza as in your pic while Audi would understeer on full lock with all four wheels spinning like crazy. And ditto the good quality flag waving by all concerned! |

Brilliant! But think that is a standard wheelbase Audi? The SWB version looked a handful! You must have a pic of an RS1600 on full opposite lock somewhere?

Thanks for the additional photos EM
The ones of the approach to Hill Top with "nothing to do" are after we had swapped flaggies and my friend is on the blue. In the time you had travelled from "Knickerbrook In" to "Brittens" we had rotated. It is normal practice for flaggies to change duties during longer races to get a different view from time to time. Unless one is flagging solo........like at the Autosport 3hrs. Next flagging assignment "Redgate In" tomorrow, Friday, for The Masters Donington Revival. DM |

Good to meet you Gary and thanks for the pics of number 30. First run for two years for the car and only the third race in ten years for me and it was a steep relearning curve. Good job the younger member of the family was on form and got us a finish and a class win owing to others dropping out!
Still thinking about Spa and will PM you. Peter |

Right, lets see what we have here.
Firstly Mr. Bell having a quick run out before breakfast. Who invented that early in the morning? Brilliant. Must trry it again one day .... Nick JM showing a Turner the way around Lodge. Good work - the Turner seemed to prefer the green route most laps. Nick JM's partner for the race (was it The Stig?) holding up a queue of cars at Lodge ..... Roger - The Big Mac's OK .... Though it seemed keen to become acquainted with a rather pretty Lotus on the cooling off lap. And finally for this post - what can one say? |

A few more ....
Mr. Palmer seemed pleased with the way things were going - in fact he was over th. .... Sir Stirling looking a little uncomfortable - as well he might given the huge lurches the Ferguson seemed prone to. Presumably, after the early morning run, Mike set an alarm to wake him for the afternoon exercise. Proof that Mr. Rowley is now a fully paid up member of the MGB racing club. Somebody driving a red B that thinks it is a Lotus Cortina. Unbeknown to Nick JM, Team Delta stripped the B bodywork between races and Iain got another run in it in the guise of an HFF2000, failing to win only due to the limitation of the undersized engine. |
