into retirement

for those of you that know me it will come as no great suprise to you that sadly i have to put my gloves into retirement.this has been on the cards for some time, and i thought long and hard about it during this season, however time has come to bid farewell to my ever faithful gloves.they have reached the point of no return, with big holes in them they are no longer of any use to me.......(although i can still pick my nose without taking them off)....but that,s for another day.they will however accompany me to each meeting.the good news is i,m getting a new pair.

It's always a sad day when we have to face up to the fact that gloves just don't live forever.
I hope the gloves will take comfort in the knowledge that they were loved by all that were fingered by them!

You were smitten with those gloves and they fit you like a........er.....glove!

Perhaps now that they have reached retirement age, you could thread some string through the arms of your probans and tie a glove to each end - to remind you of the good times you shared together.

The gloves were good at their job, but Andy, you had a hand in it!

Well, Badgeman 62 (Andy), you had me really worried there!!! However, just your gloves are retiring!! I thought we had lost ANOTHER valuable Marshal? I am sure it will not take long to run-in your new gloves!!

Andy considering the state of your gloves I'm surprised they lasted to the end of the season, however, you can now cut the fingers off and use them to keep your hands warm.

Or ........... we could always burn them at the training day next February. Those gloves must be soaked through with oil and fuel!

its about time andy you put them to rest they have done you well to last you 60 years of marshaling we will have to arrange a one minute silence at the first meeting next season and regarding burning them at training day we will have to get the local brigade to put them out

thanks so much for your sympathies.i was thinking of having a simple viking type of farewell on the lake but the impending fireball may well prove to be some what of a risk to the wildlife

Bring 'em to Montreal next year, we can do the viking funeral on the big rowing lake behind the straight -- and the fireball would give the rescue guys who tool around all day in the speedboats something to do....
