driftwood has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Champion Of Brands/ King of kent

remeber teh days of Ff1600 racing at Brands with teh Champion of Brands championship thatlater went down teh King of kent route with races split bewteen Brands and Lydden
It was then kille doff due to lack of numbers

With a strong Midlands Oulton and Castle coombe series surely there is some mileage in having a championship at Brands with kent and Zetec cars after all the FFord festival is held at Brands every year
This year Lydden will have some FFord races with SEMSEC and they have 2 races at Brands
can we have some Kent cars at the events to push for a 2009 series again?

I think we have 5 cars for Lydden FFord ( Kent and zetec) it should not be too hard to get 20 FFords for a brands race

I agree - it used to be a good series. Grids of up to 30 cars in the late 90's.

many good drivers proper wheel to wheel racing
never fathomed why it died off no doubt there was a logical reason

Mark Taylor raced in one race, as did Anthony Davidson. I think Karthikeyan did as well at some point. We even went to France one year. Good fun, nice bunch of people and hard, clean racing.

Triple J Motorsport should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Reason is:-

Some drivers didn't want to go to Lydden.

Zetec were first included in the same race but a different class then a seperate race.

Do you think that's the whole reason. When I raced in '98 there were around 15 - 20 cars at Lydden, with over 30 at Brands. Still a good field and Lydden is a decent enough circuit. Not great but it was fun. I can't see why it wouldn't work again.

What are the dates for the races at Lydden? Are they one day or two day events?

I found them Eddy thanks! Bedankt!

Looks nice, could run my Zetec there instead of a trackday at Zolder...
Wonder how many Zetec would be racing in the series?
Are the putting the Kent and Zetec's in 1 series or do we run with the others?

Well personally I always went really well at Lydden and won a number of races there.......but it has never really excited me as a circuit and I would not 'choose' to race there if there were other options.

From my point of view - you are always going to get much lower grids turning out at Lydden. Not only due to the fact it is not a great circuit bit also due to the fact it is right down in one corner of the country and hence is a pain for a number of people to get to.

But still, if the whole CoBrands and / or a South East championship could be revived that would be great for all of us.
It works in most corners of the UK, so why not again here?

But obviously you need the drivers.

Just the name brings back the memories. I grew up with a FF1600 race at seemingly every Brands meeting I went to and to see it back would be absolutely superb.

At Lydden we have 1libre races but they want to get FFord up and running on its own so the plan is to give them their own races BUt if entyr levels are low they will get merged into the Libre race until they get suficent entries to stand alone
When that happens you could get the opportunity of 4 races in 1 day
last year i recall 3 zetec cars 2 or 3 kent cars at 1 race

You can also run the Zetec car in Uk monoposto and i think 750 club races with f 4 i think have a seperate class for zetec cars

I understand what your saying and Yes Eddy V i agree with you
it needs bums in seats to get the ball rolling

FFMygale do you still have a car to race at Brands/Lydden?
would you be interested to come down 1 or 2 times maybe drag along a friend to race with you as well to gee up the momentum?
Libre was nearly dead at Lydden i went down and geed up the racing dragged along a few guys others saw the results and joined in and it went from 5 cars to 10 on average with 12-14 at times
all it takes are a few guys to enter and hopefully the others follow suit

Neil (FFMygale) has a few FF1600s and FFZetecs and an F3

I will do the SEMSEC Open Single Seater Championship rounds at Brands on the 27th April and 6th September. But not interested in going to Lydden.

Palmer did have a COB within his MSV FF1600 championship and was set to grow massively the next year but he pulled the plug after 1 year. It would have been full in year 1 but he annouced it late.

If BARC organised a FF1600 COB it would be full after a year or two.

King of the kents was a BRSCC type of national championship think COB was called champion of Kent when they to Lydden.

Thats why Mark, Matt and myself have all bought FFZetecs as we can race in Mono1800 F4 Class C and Semsec, loads of Brands races!

Bring some along, put them in and pick 'em out again.

John, the Semsec link was more to make AJ Automotive aware of the site.
When are you racing next?

I do have a car but its not going to happen I'm afraid - as I am racing too many weekends of the year already in Club F3 and intend to do a couple in 750mc - sorry!
