Canberra SCS Penalties Issued

CAMS STATEMENT

Penalties imposed at the Shell Championship Series
Round Five GMC 400 Canberra, June 7 - 10, 2001

Saturday June 9

Rodney Forbes was issued a $200.00 fine for exceeding the Pit Lane Speeding Limit by doing 43km/h.

Steve Reed was issued a $300.00 fine for exceeding the Pit Lane Speeding Limit by doing 46 km/h.

Paul Romano, Mark Larkham and Steve Reed all started at the rear of the grid for Race 1 after their cars failed to meet the qualifying criteria.

An inquiry was held into Cameron McLean and his team after they allegedly did not have the prescribed tools to remove the front air dam. The result of the inquiry was a fine of $250.00.

Mark Skaife was given a severe reprimand for incorrectly rejoining the Fast Lane, and was therefore in breach of the Supplementary Regulations.

After an alleged breach where Mark Skaife crossed the yellow line at the pit exit, Holden Racing Team was issued a warning, in that a further breach would attract a Stop/Go or a time penalty.

Sunday June 10

An inquiry was held into both Brad Jones and Paul Weel, after they allegedly exceeded the Pit Lane Speed Limit during Race 3. They were both found to have breached the ruling and were each issued with a 29 second penalty being added to their total race time.

The following Stop/Go penalties were issued during:

Race 2

* Steven Ellery for crossing the yellow lines at the pit entry;
* Paul Morris for crossing the yellow lines at the pit entry;
* Paul Morris for a driving infringement involving Larry
Perkins;

Race 3

* Steven Richards for exceeding the Pit Lane Speed Limit;
* Paul Morris for exceeding the Pit Lane Speed Limit;
* Todd Kelly for exceeding the Pit Lane Speed Limit;
* Brad Jones for by-passing turn 12 and exceeding the Pit Lane
Speed Limit;
* John Faulkner for gaining a push start from officials after
stalling his vehicle;
* Russell Ingall for a Pit Stop violation.

Nothing for Anthony Tratt for his pathetic effort whilst being lapped ?

How many laps was he in the way for ? Even the commentary crew was surprised by his stupidity.

Not even a warning ?

That was certainly poor form from Tratt, but I was amazed by the candour of the commentary team. There was once a time when the commentators wouldn't dare speak their mind or pass judgement like that.

Ray I really believe that the Fantastic commentators we have are great just ask them they will tell you they are. Just another of Cochranes puppets.
What exactly is the Prescribed tools requiered to remove a front air dam that Mcleans team did not have and why is CAMS wasting time on hearings in to such things? And why was Skaife And the HRT only Repremanded after his pit lane infringment?

Or better still who dobbed Maclean in for not having said tools ?

I don't think TC's hand was up Cromptons ass when he went off about the reverse grid fiasco.

The tool for removing the front splitter have to be carried in the car to remove the splitter on the track before pulling the car on a tilt tray(Blame Briggsy)
Mclean must not have had them in the car.

"Mark Skaife was given a severe reprimand for incorrectly rejoining the Fast Lane, and was therefore in breach of the Supplementary Regulations."

-Hmmm, so if you recieve a repremand, you are in breach of the Supp Regs? Gah? Shouldn't Skaife have been severly reprimanded for breaching the Supp Regs re: rejoining in the fast lane?

Also, I see that there might be some follow up to the Skaife/Lansvale clash at the back of the pits....to tell you the truth, if anything comes of that I for one would become ill- thousands of such clashes would happen every year, but this one finds itself on video tape....

PS- go to p.39 of AA

I think you're all overdoiung it a bit on Skaife's pit exit, if you look at the video it wasn't that close. It's not like BJ had to slam on the brakes, prop dead still and miss Skaife by millimeters, he only had to lift off and contact was avoided. I think a reprimand was appropriate in the circumstances.

As far as HRT getting special treatment from the judiciary goes, well maybe they do. Consider the post race antics from EC, the penalty they got there is in contravention of the National Compettition Rules as laid down in the CAMS Manual.
