[iV8SC12R29&R30] Telstra Sydney 500, Homebush - 30 Nov - 2 Dec

The last race weekend of the series...

... the teams and drivers and crews have travelled all over the world, from Perth to Darwin to Townsville to Abu Dhabi to Tasmania to New Zealand and most places in between.

The drivers and teams championships are as good as won and run.

So the teams have no championship to chase..

Will it make a difference, will someone else step up?

Will the soon to be retired Shane Van Gisbergen throw caution to the wind and step up the pace on the last weekend of SBR in a Ford, and the last for the series in the current configuration of cars?

Or are there other cars ready to fly?

Its on in just 2 short weeks... YAY!!

Oh.. one more thing... will we see a team other than FPR or 888 winning a race this season?

Will SBR, KR, GRM, HRT, DJR... step up and pick up a race win?

It will also be a bitter sweet event.. so many sponsors changing, drivers changing, team crew changing, brands changing, RECs changing...

... the last of the Ford v's Holden only battles!

xrystl should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm waiting for the spin doctors telling us that this is the most important event of the year and that second and third place are just as important as winning the series and second and third place will be remembered forever - I'm glad that I have other things that I can be doing that weekendand I certainly would hate to be at the track with the 400,000 people that V8 supercars are expecting

These would be Cochrane/V8 supercars figures (need high numbers to try and keep the event) , I know Cocho has gone, however his method of calculating numbers will still be in place as it's way too profitable for the V8s to get rid of

Someone else should be in that car. SBR gain nothing by running him.

What do they have to gain by running someone else? plus their spot in the teams championship is still up for grabs. And also they have a contract.

as an aside. Win it or bin it. Cars will never be used in the main game again

Many of them have been sold though.. the 3 SBR cars have new owners waiting to take them home after this weekend, so do 3 of the FPR & 1 TDR cars... And 888 has 2 cars sold off...

If I had stumped up a deposit, I might be scared right about now

I counted 25 people there today for the Vodafone launch INCLUDING media. Or in V8Supercar terms: 18 thousand people.

So... who's hanging out for the announcement today that the NSW Government will extend their deal with the V8Supercar series, to continue to run at Homebush for at least the next 3 years?

Yay!!!!!

Just looking at the weather for the wend

Fri 34 with 50% of rain
Sat 38 with 80% of rain
Sun 24 with 80% of rain.

Looks like it could be a interesting wend around that hot closed off road track as the CH7 com team will tell us 1000 times over the wend.

Just on a side note I have not herd as much PR for a race as I have herd this, this week on both AM & FM radio stations, is it all due to the last over the red v blu?

Sure do.. it is a signature event. An event that loses money yet has a strong crowd & interest, with opportunity to improve is better than going to a space beside a rubbish tip that 3 men and their dog still dont want to go to

Problem is that the new state BOF Liberal Goverment wants the Sydney race to be at SMP instead of Homebush. And with one more left on the contract next years negoations will be interesting.

HOPE they don't renew it Homebush is a nothing track nowhere to pass and no run off's surrounded by concrete. Slight bump will turn cars or put them into wall.
