Another update from BMW on the M6 GT3 development progress...the article states that we might see it later this year racing!

With Mercedes and BMW rolling out new GT3 cars, I'm hoping that Audi would come up with their latest iteration of their R8 GT3 car!

Am I the only one thinking that 2015/16 will be two absolutely crucial years for the future of GT3? With the Mercedes and Audi, two of the biggest selling GT3-cars are up for replacement. If they get it wrong and make the older gen cars obsolescent too fast, GT3 could lose a significant number of teams. Not so much on the sharp end, of course, but they would lose depth, and that could hurt things in the long run. I can see a bit of a repeat of what happened in GT1 around 2005, with new, but more expensive and not so readily available cars coming into the market, crowding out the old stalwarts. That really set the class up for the dramatic shrinkage of fields (and ultimately Ratel's failed attempt at the World Championship) a few years down the road. |

They have, it'll be here before the other two. Doesn't look as different though, but apparently it might run at the Paul Ricard tests next week.

In an ideal world, sure... in real life, I have my doubts about it.
I guess it depends very much on what the manufacturers in question want: A) Push the sales of new cars, get people to move away from their old cars. B) Keep milking the old cars through spare parts supply. |

I doubt all of them do the same, and if they did I would chose an semi-official mfg like reiter that doesn't depend too much on the mfg. Even considering the Camaro with a proper BoP. |

For some reason, the front-end was borrowed from the TT car just by looking at it.
Still, it looks great for a car that was debuted 8 years ago. Of course, both Audi R8 and Nissan R35 GT-R might be replaced in 2017 with a brand-new platform. |

Don't know... problem was that those GT1 (dbr9, mc12 etc...) were extremely expensive (over 1 mln €) with a very limited production, only 8 C6R GT1 ever built, just around 10-12 MC12. Spare parts were insanely expensive and difficult to acquire. GT3 market is 90% customers oriented, so if prices will keep on remaining under 500.000€, and spare parts/maintenance prices won't rise too high, very likely there won't be big changes. Quoting a famous line from Visconti's The Leopard: 'if we want everything to stay as it is everything has to change' |

Hey it's a GT3 car that looks like the road car it's based on! It looks amazing, and looks much better than the Lexus and Cadillac GT3 variants.

The new AMG reminds me a lot of the Z4 at the front.

The AMG GT3 car looked great, but I still miss the gullwing doors...

Not a fan of the new Merc. They went the BMW route and threw in an engine the road car doesn't have. Instead of the 4.0L TT V8 they kept the SLS's NA V8.

Looks like it's pimped by a tuner with cheap body parts. Not really like it.
