What's the ultimate in karting?

Is there some kind path that you guys follow through your karting careers? I mean like starting in Junior whatever series and moving on to senior this, before moving up a league to division 2, then 1 and so on up to the premiership (sorry for the footballing analogy) ;-)

You'd start at club level. Classes are split up in terms of age, weight and engine used.

Then if you were serious, you would begin racing the CIK-FIA classes, Junior Intercontinental A, Senior Intercontinental A and then the biggest two classes of all - Intercontinental C (125cc, 6 speed gearbox), or the F1 of karting (since Formula Super A was scraped two years ago...) Formula A.

The biggest races are:

European CIK series
Past Winners include - Giorio Pantano, Jarno Trulli, Jenson Button.

World Cup at Suzuka, Japan
Past Winners include - Jarno Trulli, Dan Wheldon, Lewis Hamilton, Tonio Liuzzi.

Margutti Trophy
Past Winners include - Giancarlo Fisichella

Monaco Gold Cup (now defunct)
Past Winners include - Michael Schumacher

and the biggest of all, the CIK-FIA World Championships
Past Winners include - Jan Magnusssen, James Courtney, Jarno Trulli, Tonio Liuzzi.

In all honesty, no matter what anyone tells you about any other karting classes (Rotax, Biland, Rok, etc), if you want to prove your talent against the best, CIK classes are the premier, and by far the best, category in karting to do so - a weekend's racing at CIK level is equivalent to 6 months in any other class.

i currently race Formula A in europe (cik levels) lol and i've done junior and ICA at these levels aswell i've raced in england aswell i can honestly say that competition in england is nothing compared to cik level races. Its not just the drivers your racing against its aslo the physical aspect - the heat and the softer tyres.
the hardest race i have ever drove in my life was when i owon the margutti last year in ICA, it was such a physically demandinng race.
thats not to say that racing in england is bad, its excellent preparation!
i mean look jenson he started in egland, same wiv davidson and paffet!
