[Official] Austrian Grand Prix - Predictions Contest 2019 - Round 9 of 21 - Results

If the Red Bull Ring provided excitement for Formula 1 itself, that was no less the case in the Predictions Contest, with a mixed set of results. After taking my first win of the season in France, I got a back-to-back victory and became the first person other than smellysocks to take more than one win this year. Let's see what happened below.

Analysis

Verstappen was the most unpredictable winner of the season, with him being predicted 5, 3, 2, 4, 4, 4 and 3 places off the win, Notso Swift coming closing, having him in 3rd.

The number of drivers predicted in their exact place by a single entrant was wildy varied, ranging from 0 to 5. crmalcolm, Notso Swift and smellysocks didn't manage to get any on this occasion, while I got 5 for Bottas in 3rd, Vettel in 4th, Norris in 6th, Gasly in 7th and Räikkönen in 9th.

The other correctly predicted drivers were Leclerc in 2nd for gert, Bottas in 3rd for Born Racer Fan and Gasly in 7th for wolfhound.

crmalcolm's technique of putting in the same predictions every round paid off this time for Giovinazzi, as he was the only competitor to have him in his top 10, one place off in 9th.

The top 10 drivers were generally predicted well, if not in the right order, with 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9 and 8. I had the highest total with 9 this time (Pérez being the only wrong one).

Only Born Racer Fan and I got any of the qualifying top 3 correct, Bottas in 3rd for her and Bottas and Leclerc on pole for me.

Everyone but crmalcolm correctly had Williams as the fastest pit stop winner. No-one predicted such as high Rate the Grand Prix score as 8.

In the championship, the gap to 1st place has narrowed from 40 to 35 points, with me taking over 2nd from Born Racer Fan. It's going to take an excellent job for any of us to overtake the highly-consistent smellysocks, but it can be done.
