Good tribute report at Astromega website.
I miss "Gonchi" too as a driver and as a person.

Losing Rodriguez and then having Jason Watt paralysed was a dark time for F3000, and robbed single-seaters of two outstanding talents. I suspect both of them would have made it to F1.

Yes, and Gonzalo was about to make a big impression on ChampCars.

Just realized that Champcars are racing in Laguna Seca and F1 in Monza this weekend, just like 5 years ago. Even the dates are the same.

Accidents happen thats what they say,
It will never happen to me we all pray,
But when it does it effects us all,
Just think of the family who get that call,

Today is a sad day for this sport,
But I know he is in everyone's thoughts,
God has taken one of our own,
It left me shaking here in my home,

I never knew Gonzalo, only his face,
But now he goes to that eternal race,
Racing the greats like he always dreamed,
He had such a big future or so it seemed,

He lived a life so full and strong,
It only took a second for it all to go wrong,
But we all know that this one thing is true,
Racing is all he wanted to do,

I take my time to look at the sky,
Not really wanting to say goodbye,
I know in time we all must die,
I slowly bow my head and start to cry.

RIP: GONZALO RODRIGUEZ
