Why not just merge the BTCC with the WTCC, after all, who wants to see 12 cars trolling around compared to 30+ cars making a heck of a race. The MSA gave the cull orders on quite a few championships that couldn't make 16 cars on the grid regularly, so will it be curtains for the BTCC?

Without the Italian championship, the WTCC was down to 26 cars today...lets stop exaggerating...it may still be double the BTCC grid...but and but and but...

It makes so much sense for the BTCC organizers to avoid WTCC clashes so as to make it possible for some guest appearances from WTCC teams. OTOH, perhaps there's only so many holiday weekends around to spread the races out with.

OTOH, even if the BTCC and WTCC manage to get separate weekends, the races better be separated by more than a week! I don't think the top WTCC teams would send their primary cars (at the least, backup/old cars) to race as they could be damaged and may not be repairable before the next WTCC round?

Isn't it more like 30-odd cars trolling around in the WTCC, and 12 cars making a heck of a race in the BTCC? For sheer excitement the BTCC cars and races can hold a candle to the WTCC, and the field is growing towards 16.

It would be pretty much impossible to combine BTCC and WTCC unless it was purely for the British rounds...some teams are struggling for budgets in BTCC (eg WSR and Rob Collard) so they are unlikely to be able to raise enough to do the WTCC.

Now it's down to TOCA and the FIA WTCC organisers to give us fans what we really do want to see.
Simply isn't going to happen any time soon... I don't think Alan Gow has any intention of even aligning the BTCC on rules...

However, we may well see more BTCC drivers in the WTCC next year, as the former series continues to struggle - will SEAT bother with another British season?

They could do what BMW UK have done, run a team on the world stage and make a big splash - but they could also then bump up coverage of the one-make Trophy in the UK to keep the home profile up if that was needed...

doesn't it make sense for the BTCC and the WTCC not to clash?
the fan base for touting cars is big in the UK (IMO) and the WTCC is next after the national series, so wouldn't it be fantastic? this way the chaps can race at home and away getting double exposure-double testing and double races in, it sounds win win for all if the rules are the same, any chance the DTC, and STCC can do this?
