Jimmyz360 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What Kinda of engines should CART use...size..power..rpm

I think CART should stick with its 2.65 L engine...but change it to a all motor. I think they should have a redline limiter to 20,000 rpm and allow pnuematic valve springs and other materials to accomplish this goal. It should produce around 770 hp at beginning of season and move to 790 hp at end...making for some exciting...and spine tingling racing.

I'd like to see a series where a builder could go either turbo charged or supercharged ,****el engines would be welcome as well as deisels maybe some normally aspirated V8s from detroit, turbines .I'm ready for some new ideas. Regulate them somehow with spec tires and a fuel limit.Wheelbase ,weight ,etc.

I think the censor software has disapproved of the portion of the word w-a-n-k-e-r by editting up w-a-n-k-e-l.

I have no problem with CART adotpting a form of the IRL powerplant with these changes.

1. No restrictions on engine lease programs. For the manufacturer to reap any benefit from their engine design program they must have control of it. They do not need an outside source with less than 1/2 the resources determining the design direction of their powerplants. I cannot believe that the IRL engine formula, where the team is responsible for the tune up of the engine, is any cheaper than leasing a Honda, Ford, or Toyota from the factory.

2. No rev limit restrictor. The IRL engines are limited to 10,000 rpm and make approx. 650 horsepower. A huge portion of the technology that CART manufacturers have invested in conrod design and valve spring design all transfers directly over. A CART 3.5 liter V8 would probably rev to around 14,000 rpm and probably make around 750 to 800 horsepower. This would be a drop of 100 to 50 horsepower and could effectively reduce speeds without the use of the Handford device. Should speeds become too high once more, a rev limiter could be used on the ovals. None should be used on the road course as the drivers need power oversteer. Also, a normally aspirated V8 would be much closer in alignment with the current production engines produced by Honda, Ford and Toyota. This would also allow Ford, Honda and Toyota to sell un-tuned engine kits to the IRL and offset the engine design costs.

Well the reason i dont go with an IRL type engine is that IRL and CART are competitors, theres no gentleman agreement that one is more powerful than the other, even though CART is. They are competiting and joining forces would be stupid, there is no place in america for 2 open wheel racing organizations and some f1 influence. I stick to my previous message engine specs of 2.65 L all motor with a high screamer 20,000 rpm rev limit.

I have said it many times, and I'll say it again. I think Cart has the best overall formula of any racing series in the world, and I would not change a thing. Giving too many options, as floid2000 suggests, would probably just destroy the close racing that we currently have, and make it look more like F1.

With multiple type powerplants the rulesmakers would be busy,But wouldn't you like to see some new ideas ,Maybe the next new engine for passenger cars is already in somebodys head .
I wouldn't even attempt to list the number of inovations that we got from racing in the past starting with the rearview mirror the list goes on

No. No. No.

Lets see a blank piece of paper...

Stretched cars, all having a Keith Black big blocks. Capacity limits anyone? Big tyres. No brakes. No ovals.

Well one thing i about IRL is there rev limiter is 10,700 and to my calculations that should come out to around 600 horsepower or less, I think they are optomistic when they talk about 650, mabye running at 200 mph they shove more air into the engine. Well I still like my idea of a 2.65 L motor which would make a screaming sound at 20,000 rpm. A 3.5L block like the IRL but with more horsepower would not be acceptable by the IRL, because it is like f1 and formula 3000. IRL doesnt wanna be a kid brother to CART, they want to compete with CART and having the same engine with less horsepower would degrade them. I think either a 2.65L 20,000rpm rev limiter , or a 3.2L 16,000 rpm limiter would be fine, although i prefer the 2.65L for its more sound and cutting edge technology. Right now CART is caught in a challenge between IRL trying to get the NASCAR fans (or i like to call the all American white people) and f1 is getting the rich and international crowds. CART needs to make a splash now or be drowned.

I think they should go to a 3.0 litre normally aspirated engine similar to that for formula1 and allow no rev limiting....
