Where's JJ Lehto?

I was watching the AMLS race at Mosport this weekend and it struck me, where's JJ? He was always one of my favorite drivers and I haven't seen or heard from him since he won Le Mans in 2005. Anyone have the scoop on his whereabouts?

Last Friday he was in the Audi hospitality unit at the DTM race in Zandvoort, talking with Marco Werner.

Wow ..... your quick !!!

I havent heard any news about him at all . Im just hopeing he will get a decent drive for next year , maybe with one of the Acura teams . He would be a great choice for one of them as he is quick , knows most of the circuits .

Some say he throws caution to the wind at times , but I suppose when you look at his career record , it speaks for itself . Good !

There is some rumour about a 3 car Courage LC70 team in the Alms for next year , but thats all it is at the moment , rumour . Maybe if it comes off he could get a seat there . But I miss his action in the Alms .

The guy's good for a topline/factory seat only whether it's DTM or Sportscars.

I wouldn't want to see him messing about with uncompetitive machinery.

Wonder if he'd consider an FIA GT drive?? that'd be excellent but unlikely because he's now living full time in Miami isn't he

However I suspect he'll be at the wheel of a works or 'privateer' R10 next year?

With the supposed confirmation about what Audi are doing and Champion aren't doing in ALMS, it seems the rigght time to resurrect this thread.

Any news on what JJ will pedal this year?

Besides Daytona 24 with Papis and Braun in 76 Krohn DP there hasn't been any news or rumors.

The post you are talking about is from September Bentley03, so I assume it must be referring to the scam

Well there is the rumor of another RS Spyder out there yet. I was hoping it would be in Champion livery with JJ in it, but that does not look likely. Maybe he will still find a seat in it whoever campaigns it.

What about a seat with Penske

They still haven't confirmed their lineup.

Ah, but we can always assume we know!

I'd be surprised if Maassen, Dumas, Bernhard and one of Collard or Long wasn't the fearsome 4 for next year.

Briscoe and Castroneves have been testing the Spyder with Dumas in Sebring.

And I would tip them to be 3rd drivers at best, I would say. We know how the conflicts with the IRL have panned out for Dario's chances of a full LMP2 drive.

Bernhard has also been in the car at Sebring. I'd say he and Dumas are a lock, I'd be surprised by Maassen's absence, and you would think the 4th seat would go to another experienced Porsche factory pilot. I think looking at who Porsche has where at the Rolex could be providing good clues.

But do we even know the full slate of Porsche factory/factoryish drivers for next year?
