Blyton is a great circuit, flows really well.

Let down by two things;

1) Do they still have those compressed tyre barriers? Has the same effect as ramming into a concrete wall; first event I raced there half a dozen cars were written off against those tyre lumps.

2) has less facilties than a Russian concentration camp in the off season!

The simple answer to the above would be to avoid the tyre barriers which are there. If you avoid them then they dont hurt as much.

If you ever have the chance to travel to Valkenswaard in Holland most of the track is surrounded by a great big brick wall (no tyres) and funny enough the drivers avoid this and have very few accidents.!!

Just a bit of friendly advice.

The same as on the M25 there are barriers and brick walls for drivers safety and drivers avoid these, meaning no written off car.

Try it Craig!

Great day and great weather,car ran brilliant all day just a driver error in the final.another lesson lernt went across the start finish and onto the loose expecting it to be dry and it wasn,t,car ran wide and sideways and lost five places .oh well just a little striaghting to do to front of the car for next event . cheers to little brother for spannering for me ,not that there was much for him to do if its not broke then dont fix it si As for the white bails ,you know there going to hurt if you hit them so stay away from them .I think at one time or other everyone has hit them and know how hard they are.Forgot just how fast that back striaght was and finding a braking point was really hard,good to see your car back on form again phill.

The difference is, a crash barrier or a normal tyre wall is designed to absorb some of the impact. The bales at Blyton are so tightly packed that there is no give in them at all, and their shape and construction means that any significant contact with them seems to rip a car to shreds.

Also, we all try to avoid the walls and barriers but you can be punted into them through no fault of your own.

Thanks for the handy advice, I'll remember that next time someone punts me off.
I've raced there a couple of times and seen people pushed off, normaly you'd be ok but if you are punted into these barriers thats it, car destroyed.

I'm a great fan of Blyton but I'm surprised these barriers meet current safety standards. If you got turned round into them at Div. 1 speeds you could end up with a very serious headache. At a couple of key points on the track there isn't any margin for error and the nature of the first chicane means some contact is often inevitable. Anyone know if the barriers are going to be changed in the proposed redevelopment plans?

AudiS1 maybe in formula 1 they should get rid of gravel traps etc and go back to the tracks being surrounded by crash barriers and no run off areas then tell the drivers if they dont like it then dont have an accident.The word here is accident, no one goes off deliberately, in motorsport there are always going to be incidents and spins etc.
