Sunday morning in Bahrain saw high winds and rain, a very rare occurrence in the region which has annual rainfall of less than three inches. The weather is not supposed to continue all day with forecasts of better weather in the afternoon. However there has been enough rain to change the track slightly and the winds are very high which will mean that sand will have been blown onto the track. Thus the F1 cars will be running in very different conditions to those of practice and qualifying.

Rain is only one ingredient.

According to Autosport, Montoya has said he is on the faster soft tyres - the only michelin runner to do so apparently - which means he should have been on pole if not for his last corner cock-up BUT means he should GO LIKE THE CLAPPERS in the race! I guess he will also be on less fuel than Ralf and the others from his comments.

This means we could see Montoya overtaking in the early stages of the race - wahey! - and we all know what that means... Schumi bros and Barrichello and Montoya all going for the same piece of tarmac and dusty off line.

All ingredients for a hummer of a race.

Hmm, is this rain confirmed?
If so it could seriously hurt the Michelin runners and favour (sigh) Ferrari.
We saw during practice that the Michelins perform better with rubber on the track, if the rain has washed this away it could spell disaster for Williams, Mclaren, BAR etc.

Rain doesn't neccessarily benefit Bridgestone Ferrari, as Malaysia had shown....Michelin dries is still significantly faster in damp/slippery/tricky conditions.

And because of that..i rather the rain doesn't come as Ferrari is comfortable in the heat and dry conditions. If it rains, i rather it be a huge rain than a drizzle.

Rain NOW could be good for Monty this afternoon as it'll mean that if it's sunny from now until the start of the race the track will be dry but the temp will be far lower than expected and play into Monty's gamble. Bring it on!

It's both way.. a soft compound wears quicker than a hard compound but provides more grip....but say compare last year's Jaguar to say Williams/Mclaren...the Jag eats it's rears in races for lunch..which partly contributes to Jaguar's poor race performance.

Everything plays a part.

There was a problem with tyres which had everything to do with the drain covers on the track which has now been rectified so no more problems we hope...

Bridgestones are better in full wet conditions, but in drizzle and changeable conditions Michelin have an advantage.
