I think it is a little simplistic to say that people are in it (od cars) for the buck not the passion. There are some of us who got in it for the passion and the passion remains, but we recognise the value of the cars. There are most definitely a couple whose prime concern is as an invester where the investment has wheels rather than is a painting, diamonds or shares , but as you say not all of us.

I think that's the source of all the angst..the answer I understand is no-one. The car was built up out of an XD shell that once sat in the corner of Allan Moffat's garage. But I could be mistaken.

I completely understand that buying and selling old race cars can be very very economically viable, hence why I said it was refreshing to hear Nicks opinion in this financial age. It is when the cars are treated as a painting that I become disillusioned. After all they are called race cars.

(all the best for this weekend for those competing Dr Bob, David etc)

No mate, thats the Graeme Teasure/Mike Imrie XD which was for sale, not sure if it sold... Also in that pic is Brett Youlden (Silver/Maroon XU1) and i think Greg Jordan (Purple XU1).... Think Brett won that race iirc....

i have been very fortunate to have grown old with my close mate sir moffat
the mistakes allan made was to sell his cars off to help fund the next one
as all i did push them in a corner and kept them less 2 car my first one a xa gt sed and a xagt hardtop
my most loved car is my 77 xc bathurst hardtop with less than 6000ks on it it reminds me of when i was 19 and its a fun car to drive
i had all of the cars at winton festival in 2005 all the boys drove them incl
allans son and the look on there faces was priceless
to me thats whats it all about
the racer in james and george came out and they had no regaurd for the mustang or the xagt
the masters is a great event and all will enjoy it good luck david
cheers

hi rob
the tunnel port heads came off the allans mustang
at carcraft they had spare motors from the earlyer model and thats we finished up with them
the other parts like springs ect were spares for the trans-am
ironicly when we did a replica coke mustang for allans memrobilia had to get most of those parts again from lee holman
hope they served you well as they are uniqe parts
cheers

Never ran the heads sold them with the car, they are still around melbourne. The springs worked well.
Idea with the heads was for Tatie to build up a 302 with cross over webers.
You just keep enjoying how you wish to run the Falcon.Bit like me when they outlawed the A4 Blocks and the GT40 heads,I was happy to tun my 'Stang in Sport Sedans and or Club cars.Which is what Rian and i did it times, regards Rob.
