It's good to see they have a sense of humour and also pretty good marketing to show their potential sponsors what exactly they would get for their money (as opposed to launching the car with a complete blank liverly)

What I do not like is that they fail to come up with something distinctive. They are still in their very early days, they dont have any major sponsors to dictate their main colors, why not come up with something that catches the eye and is distinctive. Now that Jordan is out of the game they could go for some nice yellow that always stands out, or even try some crazy neon color, like neon-green.

This livery, what it tells is, "We are just one of those teams that come and go, do you remember Midland? yea, we dont either, but we are kinda like them. No personality"

In a straight line yes, but try getting Thrust SSC through Eau Rouge

I reckon Gilles Villeneuve would've given it a go. Flat!

Well yes, but probably not visibly slower. Not in the same way that Thrust SSC would make them look visibly slower.

Sometimes those HRT's, Virgin's and Lotus's looked 'visibly' quicker than the rest of the field. Probably because they handled so badly.

In any case, the stop-watch shouldn't be used to judge a cars overall performance.

They should've let Kolles design it himself.

It's as clear as day the Hispania people are hanging a big 'for sale' sign on the car. I'm not talking about simple advertising space. I'm talking about the team as a job-lot.

Is it worth buying? Is any mid-field/tail end F1 team currently worth buying?

A couple of things :

o With the possible exception of Ferrari, every team on the grid is for sale at the right price.

o Like most of the teams through the midfield and back end of the grid, HRT is not worth buying.

That depends where you are coming from, if you are aiming to get into F1 and have the financial clout to do it buying any existing team, with it's entry, as a starting point, is way more cost effective than starting from scratch. But viewed as a business investment, absolutely not, in fact I very much doubt the front running teams would be good value either in the narrow commercial sense.

yes. one of lotus or virgin for example both have employee structures set up, office space, work space, and all the processes required are in motion. established supplier structures, etc etc. hispania seriously make you doubt exactly what goes on there - whether it's just a formula 3 team scaled up a bit without any proper structure, any proper regular suppliers who are paid on time etc etc. there's no reputation to buy there at all.

Most important factor in buying a team is how good is the wind tunnel?

Perhaps.

However, wind tunnels are probably one of, if not the least environmentally friendly thing about any F1 team (you wouldn't want that electricity bill!), so it's hats off to Virgin F1 in that respect.

Given how quickly and easily Lotus and Virgin established what they have, it would seem the stuff above is worth a very small premium, if any at all. When you bring the state of their balance sheets into the equation, that quickly evapourates... and some. Assets like a wind tunnel may be worth some money on their own... but then you would need to be considering an asset purchase rather than buying the business as a going concern. That's a totally different proposition.
