This one was largely self built when a huge rainstorm came through. It might look naff, but it got a round of applause from Newman-Haas.

And one more look at Turn 6, Phillip Island.

What's that skip?

I've been in there when somebody came to visit! The worst fear is the stagnant water hiding inside the tyres...

You can see that a pre-cast concrete U (about 6-7 inches thick) sits on a concrete plinth about a foot off the ground. I've been in another when the car tore the tyre barrier away as it careered out of control. I'd rather not think about a decent impact though thank you.

Phillip Island Flag Point 3.1

September 2004 on the Saturday of the round of the Australian Superbike Series (same weekend as the 2004 Sandown 500).

The flag point is located under the bridge on the left of the photo.

The guys manning the post were calling in how close the water was getting to the kerb until it reached the kerb and began to flow over it at which time a Red Flag call was made and we lost 2 hours while shovels and pumps were used to unblock the drain under the track at that point.

Here's another angle of the same problem.

Well at least there are no trip hazards....only slip hazards!!

Again, nice of them to provide the bench seat...its good for keeping your gear dry and to plop down for a break....but the backs are so high they obstruct your view from the Flag Point...some weldmesh or chicken wire you could see through would have been a better solution

Love the second picture at PI. Whenever you take a picture of a flood like that there's always some plonker paddling in it!

Bryan Degerlund should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Brands Hatch now has a new state-of-the-art startline flag point. Enclosed on three sides, with sliding windows track- and pitlane sides, large enough to flag through, ample floor space with a view over the garages to Clearways (allowing one to see the safety car as it enters the pitlane) and safe access. The pitwall hand rail has also been replaced, getting rid of those annoying cross-braces and allowing safe movement along the wall -- until the top teams put their shelters there, of course!!

Well done MSV.

looks very smart,
i expect it will soon be painted red or black to fit in with the circuits colour scheme, thus hindering drivers ability to see those flags?

Something I have just noticed, there seems to be a LED screen to the left of the box, it seems pretty permament, does anyone know what purpose it serves?
