Nascar stealing from Indy again, breaking out the option tire for a points race at Richmond. They will not mandate when or if you use them but it must be a matched set, no mixing regular and options

Per NBC Sports, 23XI and Front Row Motorsports have filed a Lawsuit against NASCAR over the charter extension deal. Maybe a good thing that NASCAR reorganized from being a privately held incorporated company to being a private LLC in 2019?

Some legal guys I've seen comment on it think it's a non starter, a few thought maybe they could get a concession or 2 but not likely to be a big winner shake up of the business

What a mess, looked like a Sunday night highway huge crash. Some misses at the pit entry too. All in all I found it wasn't worth the watch.

And this was the weekend that NASCAR ran opposite Petit Le Mans for several years in the mid-late 2000s. I'm thankful that for '06 and '08 I have DVD footage from those races (still looking for 2007, though).

They could have tweaked something going to TBI but instead kept the plates. Hell make em build a V6 program, anything other than the pack races. ARCA had a big one too

NASCAR technically hasn't had restrictor plates since 2019, but they still have tapered spacers and the problem is (and it's been that way for years) is that the cars make so much aero and mechanical grip (same thing that's messed up the short track races, especially the tire/wheel size on the current Cup car) that the banking at Daytona and Talledega won't allow for the drivers to lift or brake significantly. Not without increasing power, which an unrestricted Cup car at Talledega in '04 was almost doing 230 mph down the straights.
So basically unless the banking is cut down or NASCAR takes almost all the aero and makes them run DOT street tires, there's no good solution. Certainly not one they tried. |

Tomorrow it's time for the Charlotte Roval and the result will eliminate 4 of 12 contestants from the Cup title. But why use Charlotte, build to be a super speedway oval? If NASCAR want a road course to decide the outcome of this race, use a proper road course like Laguna Seca. As an alternative I would suggest Mid-Ohio or Portland, but climate might be a factor in both cases.
